So I was hearing popping sounds outside and wasn't sure if it was gunshots or fireworks. (It ended up being fireworks this time)

Made me curious does anyone else play this game? Trying to figure out if it's gunshots or fireworks.

Fireworks in late October? Hmmm. Too late for Columbus day.

Something to consider: The state you live in.
Some have way stricter laws on fireworks than others.

It used to be scary but I've gotten used to it.

Mon - Yes, but when there is a ball game or something there may be some fireworks. A lot of people disregard the firework laws too.

The idea that it could be gunshots never occurs to me. I always automatically assume that it is fireworks. I can't even imagine what it would be like to live somewhere where the rate of gunshots rivals that of fireworks.

Where I live, they shoot turkeys so I am used to the sounds of gunshots.
But I don't ever worry about people getting shot...

The fireworks also sound a bit different than the gunshots. I still think it's really crazy that they shoot turkeys here because we live right next to an elementary school :s

They really shouldn't be allowed to shoot turkeys near an elementary school

Once we were visiting my grandmommy—my closest family and my cousins—and we ended up playing it. Turned out to be firecrackers, but we had a couple reasons to believe it was gunshots. First off, she lives in a bad neighborhood. Secondly, grandfather was sitting out on the porch with a gun. He said the safety was on, though.

He's the one who told us it was firecrackers. They still sounded awfully terrible for firecrackers. One of my cousins was like, "I swear, those are illegal!" It was pretty funny once it was established no one was in danger. My paranoid mother freaked anyway, of course.

Crimson - I heard more gunshots living there than fireworks by a lot. Probably in the top 100 worst cities.

Amane - He says it was firecrackers... that makes me wonder a bit that the guy with the gun said it was firecrackers.

In some areas around the Denver Metro area there is a greater chance of it being gunfire than fireworks.
In one area that we lived in, we would hear gunfire on a nightly basis...and twice the activity on the weekends!
(We could always wish it was fireworks, but with the gang activity in that area, we knew it was gunfire!)

i swear there's always idiots letting them off no matter what time of year it is.... and to be fair where i live it probably is gunshots... where they got the gun in the first place i don't know (england)... but yeah... its a crap town!

New place im at some guy has been out almost every night just firing shots at a tree or something.
