OK, we all do it so don't deny it. You read a book and you have an image in your head for each character. Of course, a lot of the time, you imagine the guys to be very good looking and just overall great.

Who are you top ten hottest guys in your imagination in literature? If a character you like has been featured in a movie, was it what you imagined?

10. Zane Cobriana- The Kiesha'ra Series
9. Peter Wiggin- Ender's Game Series
8. Hamlet- Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (yes, I do realize he's kind of on the older side)
7. Will Stanton- The Dark is Rising Series
6. Artemis Fowl- Artemis Fowl Series
5. Draco Malfoy- Harry Potter series (excellent ^^)
4. Bran Pendragon- The Dark is Rising series
3. Holden Caulfield- Catcher in the Rye
2. Oliver Wood- Harry Potter series (exactly as I imaged ^^)
1. Young Sirius Black- Harry Potter series (I can't wait to see him in HP5)

5. Jaime Lannister- Game of Thrones series

3. Dalamar- Dragonlance series
2. Valas Hune- War of the Spider Queen series

And my natural runaway favorite...

I tend to make a point of not watching the Harry Potter movies (I'm a wretched stick and was part of a band of children that planned to write a letter of complaint to Steven Spielburg, who was the proposed director when we first heard it) but I freaked out when I saw David Thewlis as Lupin. In everything else I've seen him in, he's been scary-evil and I just couldn't get over it.

Atticus in the famous film version of To Kill a Mockingbird. He was just very different to my envisioned version.

Various Rochesters in versions of Jane Eyre. The recent BBC one was good, but he should have dressed up as a Gypsy.

HOWL. Or Howell. Or Wizard Pendragon. I couldn't stand his English voice; he shouldn't be allowed to flirt. He's meant to be Welsh. The Japanese was more flowery and right.

Reux in Chocolat was brilliant, but that's 'cause he was played by Johnny Depp. :)

Oh, I remember being obsessed with a guy - Arkarian - I read about in a trilogy when I was eleven or twelve.

And Henry from The Time Traveler's Wife tugs my heartstrings every time.

Bowman from The Wind on Fire trilogy.

Fiyero from Wicked, the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Campbell from My Sister's Keeper.

Thing is, I tend to form affectionate feelings or fondness for characters without considering them attractive. I sort of adore Bernard and the World Director (or is it Controller?) from Brave New World.

Chaitealatte, do you mean Akkarin from Trudi Canvan's Black Magician trilogy? Because he was hot...

And yes, I agree with the Fieyro comment.

I think I'll take the cheesy way out here and list a few from only a couple of books. Strangely enough I don't wonder if literary characters are hot XD

10. Draco Malfoy - Harry Potter
9. Jason - ABVH Series
8. Darkness - Meredith Gentry Series
7. Killing Frost - Meredith Gentry Series
6. Asher - ABVH Series
5. Fred/George Weasly - Harry Potter
4. Oliver Wood - Harry Potter
3. Louis - Interview with a Vampire
2. Nathaniel - ABVH Series
1. Jean Claude - Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series (ABVH)

I think it's just easier for me to identify with the stronger female character or with the storyline as a whole than to wonder if the main character is hot. There are too many other things going on for me.

Mendanbar-- Patricia Wrede's Calling on Dragons
Edward Cullen-- Twilight and New Moon
Beaumont-- Dave Duncan's Paragon Lost
Sir Durendal-- Dave Duncan's The Gilded Chain
Feanor-- The Silmarillion
Elrond-- The Lord of the Rings
Rap-- Dave Duncan's A Handful of Men series

... there are more, but I can't think of them. ^_^'

Nope, Arkarian. : D

From Marianne Curley's The Guardians of Time trilogy. He has... electric blue hair and violet eyes, which upon the time of reading seemed awfully exotic to me. This is before I knew about manga. xD

Any of the guys in the sarah dessen books...cause her guys are normal average guys, so I always try to imagine them as being good looking! And to top it all off, they are usually awesomely nice sweet guys, so it makes it even better!

I always imagined Louis and Armand, from the Vampire Chronicles, to be like... stunning.

Silywth and Dagnarus from the Sovereign Stone trilogy, as well, but that really goes without saying because Dagnarus is consistently described as gorgeous.

Oh! Glorfindel, too, from the Lord of the Rings. Then the movies came out and bloody Arwen shouldered in on his part. Darn woman. x3

Then that fellow from Eragon. I wasn't really too keen on the books, so I forget his name.

I try not to rank on "hottness," but there are definitely a list of men in literature that I find attractive. It's more of the way the author presents them then how I imagine they would look.

In no particular order:

Boromir, from the Lord of the Rings
Mr Rochester, from Jane Eyre
Medraut, from the Winter Prince
Inigo Montoya, from The Princess Bride
Henry, from A Star Called Henry
Colonel Brandon, Sense and Sensibility
Trilok, from Born Confused

I agree with you on:
Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter book and the movies <3

I love Artemis Fowl's character too! <3

I also imagined Maximum Ride's Fang <3

But I really don't think about the characters like that. Unless there is an illustration, I like to think that all the characters look fictionally good. That's why most movies' casting disappoints me.

4. Scipio - The Thief Lord
3. Eragon - Eragon series
2. Edward Cullen - Twilight series <3
1. Young Sirius Black - Harry Potter <3
