I hate Amy Tan.
I hate her.
I hate her to death. She exploits Chinese culture so much. To be honest, I think she hates us. The way she depects Chinese people is pretty horrible, I think. There are subtle things that make me cringe.
Anyways, who's your most hated author?

Charles Dickens
I fail to see why he's such a great and wonderful and amazing author. His stories usually have an interesting concept, but his writing is so dry and drawn out it just pisses me off. It's like he goes on for three pages about how yellow the wallpaper is. Ugh.

I don't really dislike any authors. I think a number of them are a bit nutty, but that's what makes them interesting.
I haven't read the Inheritance books, but everything I hear about Christopher Paolini makes me cringe. Does that count?

I don't /hate/ any author. But there are several where when I tried to read through them I generally get blinding headaches or I'm so sleepy that I just can't manage to finish the book and it happens to me every single time I try and read that author.
JRR Tolkien
Marion Zimmer Bradley
Piers Anthony
And a couple of others but those are the main ones. I keep trying though thinking that eventually I'd be able to read one through!

Try as I might, I never did like Steinbeck. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I hate him, but he definitely came close.
Another author whose work I was not too enthusiastic about was Irene Radford. I read the first book in her Star Gods series, and it about bored me to tears. Again, I wouldn't say that I hate her, but it would take a lot for me to pick anything of hers up.

I'm not too fond of Steinbeck myself.
And Hemmingway bores me to tears. I'm generally into literature and novels and all that good stuff, but Hemmingway..... ugh.
Also, not terribly happy with F. Scott Fitzgerald. I like his writing style, but the stuff he writes about is boring and annoying.

I disliked the writing style of Brian Jacques when I attempted to read Redwall. I just couldn't make it through more than half of that book, it was terrible. Hm... I didn't like reading Ursula LeGuin, I had to read her in my Science Fiction class last year and it was really dull to read.
I agree with Steinbeck, although I've only read Of Mice and Men I've heard from many friends that The Grapes of Wrath is a lot worse than that.
Another one I didn't like very much was Kate Chopin, I've had to read The Awakening too many times for classes and I really don't think it has a lot of depth to it.

Heh luckily that wasn't the book of hers that we were assigned, I think it was called Left Hand of Darkness. It was about these people who basically eliminated gender and were androgynous. I don't remember the entire plotline, but there was a part where the main character was taken to this camp that was pretty much like an internment camp straight from World War II, and the climate was really cold and he had to escape across the ice or something.

I can't stand writers who actually can't write, but for some reason everyone thinks they're God's gift to the genre. Such as Ann Rice. The first... um, three or four of her vampire books were fairly decent, but everything she wrote before and after that was AWFUL. Self-important crap with boring characters and flimsy plot lines. And don't even get me started on all the stuff she wrote under the name Ann Rampling. *shudder* Worst porn I've ever read. And I like reading porn, as long as it's written well.
And really, I have no problem with JK Rowling's writing for what it is... cute, simple stuff totally appropriate for the little kids that she aimed the books for. What I can't stand are her fans trying to tote it as the greatest modern literature of our time. >.<

So far on my list would just be Tolkien.
I can not stand his writing, he needed a goddamn fucking editor! Seriously, I do not need to read for a page about the blades of grass, o that funny story about the second cousin of a retard elf you only meet for like 5 minutes of the story, or his fucking shitte songs, or the changed of names for main character in every other chapter.
Yeah, fuck tolkien. And yeah, i harsh words to say about him.

Loathe that David Eddings person.
I have many authors that I have issues with. Paolini being one of them, I kept picking out parts of Eragon that came from every other book in the genre. Also, Robert Jordan and his fun habit of making the main characters dissapear for the bulk of the book. I liked the first few Wheel of Time books, but then they just went...flop.
I recall reading Lord of the Flies in Year Ten English. That was quite traumatic.

Mercedes Lackey and Stephen Chbosky come to mind. Those are the only two that I honestly hate.
Otherwise, I just don't enjoy reading Charles Dickens. I don't believe that his writing is of a good quality. The man was paid by the word to write serial, for godsakes. That isn't the way to create a good novel. He wrote for the entertainment of the crowds, to keep them hanging on for as long as his publisher would pay him.

I'm not too much of a fan of (DON'T SHOOT ME!) J.K. Rowling. Her concepts and ideas for the first couple of books were great, but these latest editions just don't cut it.

Hmm, well, I don't hate any authors, but I dislike a few of them. @_@ XD
I don't like Steinbeck stories, that' I've heard that some of his stuff is o.k, but I don't like to read it. @_@ XD
I also don't like some Hemmingway, either. I've read a few of his smaller pieces of writing, and I just wasn't that big of fan. @_@
I also don't like Ann Rice, I really could never get into vampire books, nor do I ever want to. :?

I don't think there is one author I could actually hate but I dislike Flannery O'Conner...a lot.
I was running around in circles when I had to write a paper on "Good Country People" this semester. And, her work to me, gets old fast.
I get the fact that her stories are very ironic I just don’t find any joy in reading them even if they are suppose to some what comical. ><;

Um. Sadly, there are some authors I cannot stand.
Anne Rice is one of those.
I love Vampire-genre novels but her books suck.
J.K. Rowling is one of my favorite authors... (YAY DRACO MALFOY!)
But I agree with that other person saying it isn't the BEST BOOK EVER.

I saw a lot of people chose Ann Rice. Glad to see I'm not the only one. The stories she writes are very good, but the style of writing.. God. I feel like it drags on for centuries. Maybe if I was a vampire, I'd enjoy her writing more. The Vampire Lestat was the only one of her books that I was able to make all the way though.
I really just.. can't stand her books at all. But they seemed to make decent movies. haha.
Stephen King has his moments too. I usually enjoy his books, but I recently read Hearts in Atlantis, and not only was the book way too long, but it really didn't make sense to me. It didn't seem to have any real plot, and the people in the end of the book had NOTHING to do with the people in the beginning.
Meh.
