I don't think theres a set age to grow out of thing, It just depends on the person. I have a few friends on gaia that are older than 25 , I myself am 19 and have been a gaia and other avatar sites regular since late 03 early 04. Ive noticed that where ever you go on any given site you tend to find the people in your age group eventually, for myself Ive found a lovely thread on gaia full of people of a wide age range, thats fairly active. I think as long as the older users don't horde the whole older and wiser thing over the younger uses they tend to get along , and same the other way around with the young cocky things. =D I don't think I'm going to grow out of these sites for a very long time, and like one of my friends, I think when I have kids ill introduce them to the avatar communities as well.

I tend to get goggly eyes on Gaia when I tell people I'm 27. You're never too old to enjoy good discussions, imaginative role-playing, interactive games and such. In fact, if you get so old you can't enjoy the same things young people enjoy, you might as well be dead, IMO. There are studies showing that older people who keep younger friends tend to live longer, because their minds stay active and they have an interest in the world around you.
Plus, what's a few hours over the course of a week spent cultivating online friendships? I have a family myself (husband, three cats), and yes, it takes up a good deal of my time, along with my own work, but I love meeting new people online.
ETA: I think being older creeps users out when they associate the sites with flirting and cybering.

I don't think you're ever too old really. I mean if you're a 46 year old man trying to get young girls to rp with you that's a little creepy, but if you're just here to chat and have fun there's no harm. Heck, older players can give a lot of good insight and advice as well. Somewhat related, but when I played maplestory, there was a man in my guild who was around 40-50, and he was one of the coolest people there. <3

I don't think there's really an age where you're too old for avatar sites. It depends more on why you're on the site, for me. I mean, if you're a thirty or fourty year old person who's on the site for discussions or to make a cool looking avatar, that's no problem. But a twenty year old looking to meet hot teens, that's not okay.

I don't think there's a limit. I remember on Anionline there was a user named Granny something, and she was actually a grandmother. That person had to be well over 46.
These boards with avatars are still community boards nonetheless. Forums were created to chat and discuss, only difference here is that there's little humans besides your post which you can dress up with virtual currency you earn by those posts themselves.

I don't think you can ever be "too old" for avatar sites. If you like it, do it!

I think anyone should be able to be on these sites... I don't think I'll be playing on them as much when I'm older because of college and real life, but if people have the time, why not? :0 So long as it's not used for weird stuff to get to kids... That's so gross... But to just chat and dress up an avatar is always fun! :]

I don't think there's an age limit for these kind of sites. I mean being a 40 year old guy on a kid based site is kinda creepy but there are so many older people on now, it doesn't really matter. But if they begin to be a total creeper than I think it should stop for them, and I mean the bad creepy, not the good.

I don't think anyone is ever too old for anything. My friend is 24 and she still plays on neopets, if you like something why not stick to it?

No age is too old for Menewsha. This community is so mature, that I don't think I'd ever find it below me to come in and talk to the people here. As long as it keeps on the way that it's going, I'm hoping I'll be here well into my twenties and maybe even longer.

It's so cool to see all the support for us old people. (I guess at 27 I'm old?) At least here, users acknowledge that it's about the fun, not about exclusivity.
