I have been playing for ages ARMA 2 (The ARMA series has been very focused on military simulations) but recently a mod which has come out called DayZ, Which is a realistic zombie apocalypse mod which is amazing!
So when you first start you wake up on a beach and the rest is up to you, there are zombies in DayZ but you can easily get away from them if you run into a forest the main problem is other players, they will literal hold you at gun point and make you drop all your stuff then they shoot you in the leg (this prevents you from moving quickly and the gunshot is like a dinner bell for zombies).
But there is good in this game, I have saved two people from death and I have been saved once, and I have teamed up with these people and helped them get food and drink.
Right now I am somewhere in a forest waiting, I don't know what for though
I recommend trying it out, you will need ARMA2 and Operation Arrowhead, which will cost about $30, and if you don't like the mod ARMA 2 by itself is still great.

Day Z's loads of fun, especially with a few friends keeping things coordinated over Skype or some such. My only gripe about Arma (I got Arma for Day Z) is what feels like negative mouse acceleration. While I understand it's supposed to make close quarters combat a little more realistic it's been driving me batty.
I don't think I've ever had a friendly encounter with other players (who I didn't go in playing with). We're always shooting at each other, but that's probably our fault. We're not very trusting and tend to shoot first and ask questions later.
One problem is gunfire does attract a lot of zombies. On a few occasions firefights have ended with both sides running away from each other in need of a blood transfusion and bandages because of the zombies. When playing with larger groups (8-10) we generally manage to get a convoy going (buses, etc) and manage to make it a few hours before a big enough group of bandits pull off a big enough ambush. We've found having designated positions (medic, for example) really helps.
Yesterday I killed someone who had a M249 with a handgun. I gave it to my buddy and we were swiftly assassinated by players with silenced weapons while trying to flee the city. Had a half a dozen successful murders, a few dozen zombie kills, and loads of goodies that round.

ha ha, your lucky I have no friends who have Arma so I have been surviving solo apart from those few rare times I meet someone friendly, It took me quite a while to get used to the controls when I first played and sometimes when I haven't played in a while it feels a bit weird playing again.
A few days ago I was a group of about 3 people with all their own ATV's, I heard them before they came into range so I hid and they drove past without even knowing I was there.

This sounds like a lot of fun, we should have a mene group game!! that would be fun and because we all kinda know each other okay maybe not but still it would be better then playing with a load of stangers?

Find someone to play with is always difficult, especially someone who is in your time zone and plays about the same times you do.
To me, it always feels weird. I do agree though, it feels weirder the longer I don't play. It feels different than any other shooter I'm currently playing because of the acceleration issue. Still, it's tons of fun.
I have yet to grab a ATV. I wouldn't stop, even if I saw someone. You're not really protected and I'd be afraid of a ambush.
If you make a Menewsha Day Z group I'd play ^^.

Yeah! a group sounds great, but then we do have the problem of time zones and server access but we can give a try :D
EDIT: Alright I made a group here it is: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/groups...rma-2-mod.html if you have any suggestions about the group (Like name or description change please ask)

Sounds good, I joined!

We did manage to wake up the neighbor's upon entering the city.

And we found a M249 on the way out.

I think Steam's capture is F12 but for some reason Steam doesn't take screenshots at their full resolution. I use Fraps myself.
Yep! We had a lot of fun during that play through. We murdered half a dozen guys before were finally on our way out. Two of the guys we killed must have had friends, they were waiting for us when we tried to escape the city.

I think it's relatively inexpensive and I think there's a free version. I think .bmps give the best quality, that or .png's. Another option's MSI Afterburner. It does video recording and screen capture. Also doubles as a pretty good GPU overclocking software (I prefer Precision-X for overclocking myself). Only problem is that MSI Afterburner conflicts with some of my games, Skyrim, Rage, and maybe another.
Steam takes alright screen shots though, it just compresses them that's all.

I took a screenshot when I was playing saints row the third and the screen shot was exactly like it was in the game, it was a good quality 1080p image, so steam should just be fine on its own
