Jack did notice the girls panicking heartbeat and he looked up. He had seen her all along. The way she was stressing and crying. He slowly gathered himself back together before he smiled sweetly and got down to the garden as well.
He figured he would be cold like that, he took off his nice dark jacket and gently draped it around her shoulders from behind, leaving him standing in a crimson vest that matched his hair and a white shirt.
" You must be cold." he said to her as he looked at her with worry in his eyes.

Emma jumped at the feel of something over her and the sound of Jack's voice. She turned quickly, the jacket falling off her shoulders. Before it could hit the ground, she lunged for it. It must have cost a fortune, that jacket, and getting it dirty might be bad. "I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't hear you come up." She turned slightly and wiped her tears, trying to hide them from him. She shook her head and held out his jacket to him, itching to leave. "I'm fine. I just needed some fresh air." She brushed a stray strand of hair back behind her ear. It had been bothering her all night. "I have to go," she choked out.

The young lord looked at her, he hadn't mind it if the jacket fell to the ground. It was expensive but rather old. " It's quite alright." he said before he stayed behind her, he didn't try to face her at all. "I'm sorry for sneaking up on you." he said before he smiled.
Gently he took the Jacket from her and smile a bit. "I'll leave you alone then.' he said before he walked off and sat down on a bench a few meters away, he wanted to cool down as well, so he kept the jacket beside him.
Why was she so itchy around him? Maybe...Maybe it was his fault. With a sigh he took the tie out of his long hair and let it flow freely.

Emma watched as he sat down a little bit away from her. She comtemplated leaving, but now that he wasn't breathing down her neck...Suddenly, Emma realized she didn't remember him breathing down her neck. He had just been a little too close. She brushed off the thought. No one really noticed when people were breathing anyways. She wanted to sit back down, but then remembered that she had told him she had to leave. Turning on her heel, she forced herself to walk at a leisurely pace, when every fiber of her being told her to run.
On the other side of teh garden, far from Lord Macgaven, Emma found a similar bench and sat down on it. She looked around, the moonlight illuminated the garden quite lovely from this position in the garden. It was breath-taking. As Emma observed how the moonlight relfected off the roses, she almost forgot the Lord. But he stayed constantly in the back of her mind. Finally, with the peace and beauty of the night, her anger left her, replaced by a strange calmness. Emma relaxed, her shoulders sagged and a sighed escaped her lips. She didn't know what had come over her earlier, why she had felt so much hatred. Lord Macgaven had done nothing to her. Hesitantly, Emma stood up to go apologize to the Lord MacGaven, hoping he was still where he had been when she left him.

The young lord had been silent ever since, he was fighting the urge to get back to her and ask why they had acted so mean and heartless to one other. It was aching him so badly. But he kept his back to the lady and just thought about things.
Suddenly his eyes fell to the lovely roses and he just watched them. He loved roses and heck he loved gardening.
Slowly he rolled up his sleeves and took off his gloves, only to stuff them in the jackets pocket and move to the roses. He had seen a few roses that needed to be cut. It didn't take long before the good lord was taking care of the flowers. It was obvious that he didn't care that his lovely white riding pants got dirty, or that he had cut himself on a few thorns. The cuts disappeared as quickly as they had came.

Jack was kneeling next to the flowers when Emma came upon him. She stopped a moment to watch him. She had never thought that a man like him would ever want to get dirty. And roses were for girls. At least, that's what all the men she'd ever met had thought. Emma almost forgot the whole reason she had come back. But when she remembered, she cleared her throat.

When she cleared her throat he looked up and smiled at her. "Hi. I thought you already left." he said before he slowly stood up and wiped his hands to his pants. He didn't care that he got dirty. It were just clothes anyways.

Emma smiled weakly. "Uh, yeah, well...My carriage isn't here yet." She coughed and looked away. "I came to, uh, apologize for...my, uh, behavior earlier. I don't know why I was acting like that. I'm sorry." She concentrated on the roses, not making eye contact. She knew her behavior was wrong, and she was ashamed.

The man smiled at her before he bowed his head. "There's no need to apologize. We all have bad days. I was in a foul mood myself, it wasn't very gentleman like. So... My apologies to you." he said, looking at her, but not trying to make her look at him.

Emma did not know what to say. She hadn't expected Lord Macgaven to apologize to her. Emma glanced up at him, but averted her eyes again when she noticed he was watching her. "Thank you," she whispered, thikning it rude not to respond. She reached out and brushed the velvet petals of a rose.

The man just smiled before he too got back to the roses. "Be careful not to cut yourself. These thorns are hard." he said before he took one of the roses he had cut off and stripped it from the thorns before he looked at her. "Here, for you." he said rather softly. He held the crimson flower out to her.

Emma took the rose, not looking at him. She didn't want to see what she thought she would see in his face if she looked at him. She had never gotten a rose before, much to her parents' dismay. "Um, thank you," she said. She breathed a sigh of relief when she heard a carriage pull up. "I have to go," she said, once more. She left abruptly.
Once inside the carriage, Emma looked at the rose in her hands, confused.

The lord looked at her before he smiled sweetly. "You're very welcome." he said. His own parents lived far away, to his greatest happiness. He never liked his family, except for his mother and aunt.
When she said she had to leave he wanted to say good bye properly, but she was already gone.
With a dreamy sigh he just watched the carriage go and noticed his own pulling up now as well.

The carriage pulled up to her house, a mansion really. Emma's parents were quite high in court, and were quite wealthy. Only the best of houses would do for them. Only the best of everything...Only the best of daughters married to the best of men.
Emma's maid unbuttoned her dress for her and then left, allowing her to get ready for bed. She flicked out the lights and lay in bed. She pulled the thick comforter up to her chin. It was cold in her room, and she had nothing but a thin night gown on.
Emma was having a hard time keeping Lord Macgaven out of her thoughts. As much as she tried not to think of the man, there was nothing she could do.

The man too had gotten home, but he didn't went to bed quite yet. He was thinking about the young lady he had met that evening. His thoughts werejust bouncing up and down in his mind. He tried to figure out why he couldn't let that girl go.
Soon enough he decided that a long rest would do him well. So he went to bed, dressed in just a shirt he crawled under the covers and closed his eyes.

[I'm sorry. My computer keeps dying on me. And as response to your comment on my profile asking me how I am: I'm kinda angry, seeing as my computer keeps dying on me.]
The sun peeking through her window woke Emma the next morning. She yawned and stretched, delighting in the wonderful warmth of the sun on her face. She jumped out of bed and pulled on a simple dress, one that she didn't need help with, and went down to breakfast. She ate her breakfast happily and in silence. Finally, her mother asked, "What happened last night?"
"Why, whatever do you mean, mother?" Emma was confused.
"You come in here every morning like a skunk-bitten cat, and now this morning, your as happy as a ray of sunshine. What did you do last night that made you so happy?" Her mother gasped. "Oh my, you've met a boy. Tell me about him, dearie," she said as she went on scrubbing the dishes.
"Mother," Emma protested. "It's nothing."

Jack slept well through the night, even if he was a vampire, he had to wake in the mornings. Act like a human. He was glad that he could go out into day light, but it sure made him cranky.
But this morning when a servant opened the curtains, he just yawned and sat up. "Good morning." he said before he got out of bed to wash himself and got a clean change of clothes.
The servant was surprised. "Well, good morning, Lord." the man stated. "You seem happy, did something good happen on that ball?"
The redhead just looked up and smiled. "Yes." he said. "Something did happen. And it does lighten my mood..." he then got into a clean set of clothes before he tended to his precious hair.

After lunch, Lady Madeline, Emma's mother's friend came to call. Emma never liked it when her mother's friends visited. They always talked about teh driest things. Finding nothing else to do, Emma went down to the stables. She picked up her skirts and stepped over the dirty straw, making her way to the end stall. None of the horses were hers, but she loved the white stallion they kept there.
"There boy," she cooed, petting his nose. "What say we take a ride?" Emma saddled him and mounted. Soon they were riding down the dirt road away from her manor.

The young lord himself was riding on his black stallion. They just rode on and he had lost track of time and where they were. Soon enough he rode past the manor where Emma lived, but he had no clue. His red hair stood out pretty badly against the greens of the forest and the black of his horse.
He just rode on and enjoyed the sunny day. He was riding in the shade so it was okay to be out for so long. Right at the point he wanted to turn into a road the horse stopped and turned towards the white stallion. Jack looked towards the horse and smiled. Was that Lady Emma?

Emma stopped her horse when she saw Lord Macgaven. There was no mistaking his red hair. It stood out like a sore thumb. She wanted to turn around, but it seemed like it would be rude. While Emma was no longer angry at the Lord, she still didn't want to talk to him. Her horse kicked the ground nervously as the other horse approached. Emma put on a fake smile before he could see her clearly.

Jack smiled at the lady, he was just so honest at that time. He bowed his head to the lady when she approached him. " Good afternoon, M' lady." he replied softly to her as he turned the horse so she would be able to pass them without any difficulty.
He didn't say much to her.

Emma nodded in recognition as she passed. "'Tis a good afternoon, m'lord," she replied, and walked her horse slowly passed them. Was he following her? Why was he out here? She had never seen him out here before. When she had successfully passed him, without turning to look at him, for this thought had not occured to her, she let out the breath she'd been holding and let her shoulders sag. Life was hard when you were an unmarried woman, and finding the right man didn't make it any better.

The lord just allowed her to pass, he walked with her for a bit before he turned into a different path than she did.
Why was he out there? He had no idea. With a deep blush he just rode away from her. However the horse didn't want to go away just yet, so it stopped. " What's wrong?" he asked the horse before it suddenly reared, bucked and dashed off back to the white horse. Jack was a very good rider, so he didn't fall off, but he couldn't get the control back that quickly. When the horse ended up walking beside the other he sighed. " I hope you will allow me to ride next to you for a bit?" he asked her softly.

Emma turned quickly at teh noise behind her, making her horse turn and run into Lord Macgaven's horse. She pulled on the reins, righting their path and nodded. "I guess, if that's what you wish," she told him. She looked straight ahead, trying her hardest not to show any emotion.

" He can be a bit strong at times." he apologized to her. He just rode beside her silently. He didn't say a word now, just remained silent as the stallion just walked calmly, snorting sometimes.
