LogicallyDoomed and WeBuiltThePyramids
It was the calm after the storm in the most literal of ways. The pavement was still littered with leaves that had been blown from their trees and the night had a chill to it had normally fallowed heavy rain. It was the kind of storm that forced people to stay indoors even long after it had passed. It was the perfect night for a job. Ghost, as the media and her regular employers had taken to calling her-she wasn't about to give a bunch of psychopaths and terrorist her civilian name-, stood on the edge of the research lab's roof cold eyes started down towards the back door. In a few seconds two of the scientist would walk out that very door for their smoke break. She had been casting out the building for two days now.She had been hired to steal a Nero toxin before it could be analyzed. The creak of the metal door was all the signal she needed.Taking the half step off the building she allowed gravity to do its job.She had practiced till she got it perfect. There was a 2.5 second span when the door was wide open and the scientist had their backs to it.
When the toe of her right boot made contact with the wet ground she pushed off sending her backwards into the building before the door closed in front of her.She was in.Pulling the thick black goggles down from out from under her hood to cover her eyes she scanned the hallway of motion detectors. The one good thing about unofficially working for an organization was she got the best toys. The halls were clear, the buildings security measures were still turned off. A smile crept along her face as she pulled herself into an air duct to avoid any cameras. She needed to make it to the fire escape stairwell, from there four floors up third lab on the right.
The air duct was like most air ducts, dusty and small. The mask covering her nose, mouth and chin kept her from breathing in to much of the dust. She was silent as she crept along pausing when she the sounds of voices. She was a ghost after all didn't get caught. At least not by regular nobodies. The city's local member of the spandex brigade liked to make himself a nuisance in her life. A nuisance she couldn't afford to night. Kicking out the guard for the air shaft she dropped downed into the emergence escape stair well in a defensive crouch. Hand hovering over the holster strapped to her thigh. She had learned to always be ready.
Peering through the small window built into the door she removed a single throwing knife that she had brought tonight for this exact window. There was a camera pointed directly at the door of the lab that needed to be taken out.Never let them catch you on camera.Taking in a deep breath, the fabric of her mask ruffled slightly, she simultaneously pushed open the door and let the knife fly. Cutting across the air it hit home in the center of the camera lens. Now it was a race against the clock.Three minutes before the security guards made it to the lab,six minutes till the police showed up, and the hero could be there any second.
Darting down the hall and into the lab she flicked the lock shutting her and the scientist in. She had down this part before too though she preferred not to. She grabbed the closest and easiest person to her, a small blond woman with glasses that made her eyes look as big as an owls. The blade slid out of it's holster as she brought it up to the woman's neck, probably only a few years older then herself The others in the room quickly backed away. Pulling the woman with her as she moved closer to the vials they had been testing. So far so good.
