Visibly stiffening, Rhianwen didn't understand why the thought of going back was so disturbing. Putting up her facade, she shook her head. "Hn." Despite her lack of response, Rhianwen refused to budge, stubborn and curious.
Before she could think of something else, she thought about his words. Hoped...what? Before she could stop herself, Rhianwen voiced the question. "Hoped what?""

Kai stiffened at her words, glaring over his shoulder. "It doesn't matter. You are going back, so you don't need to know. It doesn't concern you now." He paused for a second, pointing down the hallway. "Great. Miss. Lily, since you're here, please show my pet to the dining hall." He moved into his room, shutting the door loudly.

Lily stepped sheepishly out of a room, calling out to her master, "She has a right to know!" Shaking her head at the closed door Lily turned to Rhianwen. "Come on...He won't like it, but I'll explain as you eat." Without waiting for a reply, she began leading the way.

Rhianwen growled, shaking Lily off. "Don't touch me!" Approaching the door, she felt a strange surge of adrenaline running through her, and could not stop her words. Pounding on the door, she shouted at her master.

"If he has something to me, he better damn well have the balls to say it to my face!" she snarled as she began knocking.
"What the hell do you want from me?! First you drag me away bound from head to toe, then you keep touching me, grabbing me, and forcing yourself on me. You call me bitch and pet, yet at the same you tell me I'm going away. Well screw that!" she kicked the door, shaking in fury and distress. "You take me here and then just as soon as things don't go your way you lose the backbone and give up?! What the hell is your problem?! You take me here, and then you toy with me and throw me out to the wolves the instant you have a hissy fit?! What did I ever do to you?! ANSWER ME! What the fucking hell do you want with me?! Why drag me here and then get tired in a few hours?" Rhianwen didn't even know what came over her. All she knew was she was angry, confused, and ....though she'd never admit it, scared.

Inside the room, Kai had turned to the door with a suprised expression. Why would Rhianwen care? She hadn't wanted to come in the first place, hadn't cared then. He strode to the door, opening it in time to see Lily tugging on the other female's sleeve, silently begging her to come with her.

"I wanted someone to care!" He yelled, his temper flaring. "I fucked up, long ago. Now, I can't control so many things. Ask Lily how old she is! They were drawn into this as well! They have to put up with me not being able to control myself! And as for why I was playing with you: I'm tired of trying to win over the hearts of girls, just to lose control." Kai stopped yelling, biting his lip as his gaze fell to the floor. "I thought maybe, if I showed you how I was at those times first, maybe I wouldn't have to try so hard..." When he lifted his eyes to meet Rhianwen's, there was a tiny glimmer of something in them, pleading for her to understand at least. "I always picked ones that had spirit...I don't want a meek, spiritless girl..."

"I'm no meek girl..I'm no weakling..no simpering idiot." Rhianwen looked at her master, frowning. "How you were? Which one is real, which is fake? I can't tell. to me, you are a damn annoying, confusing puzzle, but I can't leave until I solve the damn puzzle!" she growled, glaring defiantly at him. "Youthink you're the only one who's fucked up?! Huh?! Everyone has shit to deal with, and right now I get stuck with an arrogant, desperate for a partner vampire who has more mood swings than a girl on her cycle!" A tear of frustration ran down her cheek as she shook. "Someone to care...someone to care? Who DOESN'T want someone to care?" Turning away, Rhianwen felt her nails dig into her palms, blood pooling as her nails cut the skin. "I can't care, I wont...I'm not gonna be fooled again, I'm not a fool. Why should you be any different?!"

The vampire was silent during Rhianwen's rant, and he spoke much quieter when he answered. After he hefted a sigh, he moved next to her and guestured to a seat. "It's a confusing story..." Kai moved, taking a seat for himself and waving off Lily. She nodded, closing the door quietly. Kai waited until the pattering of her feet faded.

"Almost four hundred years ago, I was still a fairly new vampire. I...fell in love. She was beautiful, but I was afraid she would hate me when she found out what I was. I was disgusted with myself, and refused to feed. One day, I lost control, and fed from her. She was angry with me, and that's how I found out she was a witch. She put a spell on me, on the servants I had working here. They will live as long as I do, until the spell is broken. She told me I'd never find someone to love me..." Kai's gaze was on the wall as he ran a hand through his rusty locks. "She said I was horrible. As a punishment, every month, fo a few days, I love control of myself." He smiled wryly, "I hurt people around me...I...rape them and beat them and feed from them." Kai's eyes changed, reflecting the self loathing he felt, "Until I could find someone who will love me, truly, and show it, I will remain that way...The spell is both a punishment for me, as well as making sure no one will care for me..." Kai stared intently at Rhianwen, "I don't know what happened to you, and I'm not asking you to tell me, that's your choice. I shouldn't have treated you as badly as I did, and for that I'm sorry. I just so damned tired of trying to win someone over. I wanted to make you care for me."

His voice faded off, and he leaned back, another sigh escaping his lips.

It was silent for a few minutes longer, Rhianwen looking at the man, the vampire before her. Slowly, she raised a hand, then flicked him hard on the forehead. "Idiot. I see where you're coming from, but you can't make someone fall in love with you. No matter how hard you try, there is only so much you can do to influence aperson's feelings towards you. Someone has to love you on their terms as well as yours." Rhianwen sat back down, arms folded across her chest. "Hn. I don't know how your actions were suppossed to make me care any more for you, but they are excused. I don't mind a bit of control and dominance, but I am no one's obedient little toy. No one can make me surrender or bow." she grew somewhat quiet towards the end, surprised that she was issuing him a challenge.

The young woman sighed, shaking her head and standing to look out a window. "Love isn't instant, so don't force it, or you will never break your curse." Taking another long pause, Rhianwen's soft alto voice grew even softer. "As for me...well, I am no naive little girl anymore, and I refuse to be fooled again. I refuse to so easily believe and trust a person's pretty words any longer. I made a mistake with that man, I will not make the same damn error twice."

Kai hand stared at the female in indignation. Had she truly just 'flicked' him...? He rubbed his forehead, standing as Rhianwen. When she was done speaking, Kai remained silent for a few moments, before speaking quietly, almost a whisper. "I know. But I've been searching for a long time. I don't think I'll find anyone like that. And, I'm not asking you to trust me. You've made your feelings clear."

The vampire shrugged, although Rhianwen wasn't facing him. "As for 'that man' I don't know your story, but a heart can only hold so many stiches. When it's full, well, then you know you lived to the fullest. You have to keep hopeing." Kai pointedly ignored the fact that he had told her minutes ago that he had no hope left.

As soon as he was done speaking, Kai moved next to Rhianwen, flicking the side of her forehead. He shook his head, "And I can't believe you did that! Don't flick me!" Even though his words were harsh, Kai's green eyes danced with playfulness, as if he was glad to finally speak about the secret that haunted him.

"I did flick you. I flick whoever I want to flick. Got a problem with that?" she asked, trying to sound stern and snappy, but had a slightly maore relaxed, mischevious look in her eyes.

"Since you were open, I might as well release my can of worms. I had been found and rescued by three hunters when I stepped in a bear trap and nearly lost my foot. After being healed, I was stupid enough to mention my odd sleepwalking experiences and was thus dubbed a mentally unstable individual. One of the hunters abdicated my release eventualy, and became my closest friend. Or so I was foolish enough to think." Clenching her fists, Rhianwen hissed. "What a fool I turned out to be, believing every smile, every lie, every little promise. Even when he seemed to be acting strange, I naively went along! And my punishment? I saw his real nature. After several years of playing the role of a friend, he tried to kill me and take away the only thing beside my life I still had." Rhianwen shrugged as if it were nothing, locking the pain away in her heart.

Kai had fallen silent once more as Rhianwen explained, then nodded slowly. "I see why you have trouble with people now. But, surely, you can't expect everyone to be that way?" The vampire tilted his head as he spoke, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning on the window.

"Well, how do I know who's lying and who's not hmmmmm? I'm not a mind reader for cryin out loud! Only my mom was good with telepathy and stuff." she scoffed, turning away and retreating back into her shell, feeling somewhat exposed now.
Rhianwen then proceeded to ignore the odd mood-swingy vampire. She had to admit, even though his bitter, controlling side was intimidating, it was still, kinda...dare she say cool? Shaking her head at the thought, the halfling sat in a chair in the room, propping her feet up on a freshly cleaned, nice looking piece of funiture. one obviously not meant for one's boots. With an inner smirk, Rhianwen chose to use a mohaghany desk as her footstool.

Kai had followed her somewhat, moving as she moved, although he was only shifting. He gave a small glare at the feet on his desk before answering Rhianwen, "You're right, you aren't. But untill you get to know somebody, actually know them, then you have no way of telling. And you won't let yourself open up to get to know someone." He gave the female a small smirk, before turning his face to the window again. "You're afraid."

Rhianwen hissed, growling at his accusation. Accurate as it was, she wasn't going to let down her pride and admit to that. "Wrong! I'm not scared of anything. Nothing scares me anymore, not you, not anyone." she corrected him with a huff, looking away and avoiding his eyes.

The vampire turned then, a sly look in his eyes. He moved, fluidly positioning himself behind Rhianwen's chair. "Really? Not afraid?" His long fingers slid into the woman's hair, pulling her head back. He was firm, but much gentler than earlier. He lowered his head, letting his fangs slid over the female's throat. His lips moved, the fangs retracting, before Kai took Rhianwen's earlobe into his mouth, sucking gently before whispering to her, "You're lying. You are afraid of me...Although I didn't want that, I have to admit, it is..tantalizing..." He lifted his head slightly, pressing his lips down on Rhianwen's, gently caressing hers.

At the sudden looming prsense, Rhianwen swallowed hard, trying to remain cool and unafazed. So much for that plan. The instant her head was pulled back, the female stiffened ever so slightly, eyes growing wide as she wondered what he planned to do. Tense at the fangs, she breatheda sigh of relief as his fangs retracted, only to gasp at the mouth on her ear. "N-not...scared..." she insisted, a shiver going down her spine as his hot breath tickled her neck and ear. The heat in her face doubled at the feel of his lips on hers, a soft whimper coming forth. Pulling away from the kiss, Rhianwen shook her head. "S-stop that."
