I'm just going to post the idea here, then if anybody's interested, the thread can be created! We're going to need the four (or five, however many) good guys, along with a few bad guys!

Because this post is so long, if you just want a short summary, please skip to the bottom area...

The settings of the story is on Earth, although whether or not they call it that is entirely up to us. However, the nations are all different layouts. Completely not our planet. It doesn't matter what they look like, because this is a written story, but they aren't named the same as the countries we know.

They're ruled by empires (Kings, Queens... monarchies) rather than governments like Canada, United States, (most) of Europe, etc..

It's in an older time, so no cars, no phones, no electricity. Horses and swords are the way to go.

This sounds all typical fantasy-old-age-yadda-yadda, I know, I know.
Here's the kicker.

Nobody knows why or how, but the planet gives off a special type of energy phenomenon. Similar to gravity. It simply just happens without a 100% proven and understood explanation. Everybody just accepts it's there and moves on. However, the people of the world adapted to this massive amounts of energy by gaining an extra organ called a 'core'. This core absorbs the planet's energy, and every living creature (aside from plants) needs energy to live.

But, the energy the planet produces is toxic to the cores, for some unexplained reason. The only reason life sustains is because of massive (and some smaller) crystals spread out all over the planet, which filter the energy the planet pumps out into a cleaner form of energy called 'core energy' that the cores of the living creatures can absorb and use.

The thing about this 'core energy' is that if trained to strengthen their core, people (and other creatures) can wield energy as a weapon, a healing power, a force to simply push and throw things... It all depends on the genetics of the person and their techniques. Plus their core.

So now, in the main day and age, people are usually using their energy all the time. Many people train to fight with it by transforming their energy into spells (elements depend on their family and core type. Some people can only use water-based or fire-based, and typically these people are clustered into tribes of some sort) and healing properties (if able to. Again, is a passed down technique).

The problem is, the levels of energy are dropping. At first, it was unnoticeable, but slowly it's becoming more and more clear that the people are growing weaker, and strong fighters are becoming more and more rare. They first thought it was an energy drought of some sort, because it's happened before in the past. But this time it isn't. This time, the crystals are weakening. They're unable to cleanse the planet's energy at the rate they used to before. And it's unknown why.

In the past it's happened. So when the scholars looked into records to try and find out how to fix the problem, they realized the crystals need fuel. And by fuel, the crystals need a huge blast of energy from a person's core to fill them. Almost like recycling.

The problem is, during the first time the crystals weakened, there were still many strong fighters out there with huge core energy levels. Now, because they let the crystals weaken so much, there are hardly any with enough energy to do anything.

So!

The story between the characters I was thinking of would be the capitals of the empires are holding a tournament to find the strongest fighter in their land. Each major empire (we'll say there's four (or five, if too many people want). One in the north, east, west and south each) is doing the same. Their best fighter will be sent in this group to restore the major crystals in the world, which are located in protected shrines away from the people (to not be harmed and whatnot).

And yes, of course, there will be bad guys. Beautiful, dark, mysterious men fangirls will squeal over, and sexy, bodacious woman fangirls will hate fighting against the good guys.

QUICK SUMMARY:

The planet gives off toxic energy. Every living creature has a special organ called a 'core' that receives this energy and can use it as a weapon or healing, or whatever. But because the planet gives off toxic energy, crystals are placed around the world (for whatever reason) and cleanse this energy so the people's cores can use it without dying.

But the crystals are weakening. They need a tonne of strong, clean energy to be put into them to strengthen them again. However, the crystals were so weak for so long nobody is truly strong enough. So the empires are doing these tournaments to find the strongest in their land to send on the mission to save the crystals.

Main cast --> The fighters from the empires.
Bag guys --> Wanting the crystal's energy for themselves, or wanting all the people to die off because... they're bad and warped. Because they understand how terrible humanity is.

I was thinking four or five good guys versus a group roughly around the same numbers as the good guys.

As for the cores, due to certain regions they adapt. So we'd have a number of different "elemental", you could say, types of cores.

Ice (the northern tundra regions)
Heat/fire (desert regions)
Earth/stone (forest areas)
Water (coastal regions)
Electricity (humid, coastal areas where it's moist and hot with rising air (around the equator, mostly))
Wind (subtropical areas where typhoons, hurricanes and tornadoes happen a lot)

Some of these elements may correspond with one another. Someone from a northern village against the water where it's icy might be able to wield ice AND water at the same time.

Electricity and wind are very similar as well. Thus, someone may be able to do both of those.

Other special abilities and techniques will be made for certain tribes. One might be able to read minds, others move things, but remember that if the skill is picked already and you want to make a character of another tribe, but want that same power, it's very unlikely it would happen. Even if mixed tribe parents.

Speaking of tribes, although there might be a set core-type for a region, some tribes will have different personal abilities. For example, one character might be from the Emiri Empire and have a heat/fire-based core, but their tribe power is to propel themselves (like teleport) with energy. However, another character from the same Empire with the same core-type and from a different tribe won't necessarily be able to use the same technique. Instead, they'll be able to do something else. Like... create a barrier to push back enemies or throw enemies across distances.

Here's a list of the kingdoms (monarchs/empires) in the land (largest to smallest):

- Fortreenian Dynasty (in the east, massive with over forty different nations/provinces, hundreds of diverse tribes. Has coastlines, the south reaches the equator, has tundra in the north. Forests in the middle.)
Specializes in: Defense techniques.
- Belgorian Empire (in the west, two coast lines and majorly boreal forests with a tundra in the north).
Specializes in: Sneak skills and hunting.
- The Yugerck (you-ger (like hAIR)-k) (southern-most empire. Very thin, but long. Only the north is inhabited. Tundra regions and the south is all permanent ice)
Specializes in: Healing, spells ice-based and attack.
- The Esquare (pronounced: Eh-square. The race, Esquaré, is pronounced: Eh-squar-eh... Desert region. Large island).
Specializes in: Agility and thievery.
- Emiri Empire (completely along the esquator).
Specializes in: Spell-based wind/electricity and some heat/fire in immigration regions from the Esquare and attack (strongest attack and speed).

All I need everybody to do is say if they're interested and post a character profile! Here's the skeleton!

Name:
Age:
Region: (empire, city/town)
Core Type: (your "element" of whatever kind. Make sure it matches with your region!)
Weapon of Choice:
Personality:
Tribe Name:
Tribal Skill:
Appearance: (an image or written description works fine either way!)

Once we're all filled up (and much discussing shall happen about bad guys and good guys) we can start in a new thread!

Thanks, guys!

Added note: ETHNICITIES.

Okay, so for the five empires there are typical races with typical appearances. This is very rough, since obviously nobody is one hundred percent the same.

Emiriling -- Darker skin with darker hair. Have orange, amber or brown/hazel eyes. Pointed ears.
Belgorian -- Varies. Very multicultural. Average is brown hair, pale skin, and bright coloured eyes. Round ears.
Fortreenian -- Varies, just like Belgor. Often are more slender with pointed ears. Dark (black) hair is more common.
Yugerck -- Black hair, dark skin, gold eyes. Most Yugercks have golden eyes. But some may have other genetics that give them lighter skin and almost white hair.
Esquaré -- Rather androgynous people (gender is hard to figure out) and have a multitude of hair colours and eye colours. Although red eyes are common and very piercing.

ALSO! NEW NOTE!

You may play two characters, if you're torn between core elements, or simply have two awesomely amazing characters you just HAVE to use! But whether they're good or bad depends on the spots. We can have more bad guys than good guys, since there are only 5 kingdoms and 5 good guys.

PROFILES!

I have yet to read everything as a whole, but, what I did skim and read, I enjoyed. I shall have to lurk some more and, eventually, make a character. :)

If I want the element of lighting to be my main power - where should I come from?

Oh gosh, so many people already! That's awesome! Okay, I'll try and answer as best I can and as quickly! Sorry for the delay, but I work all day and only have the night and a bit of the morning to go online!

I know, there is SO much information, I'm really sorry about that. I'm the WORST at trying to summarize quickly. I seriously talk way too much, online and offline.

Water is an awesome element! I totally forgot to post my own character, oops. I guess I should do so now, haha.

Electricity happens in very moist and humid areas where the warm air can rise and become trapped by the cold, creating thunderstorms. The Emiri Empire is mainly a tropical, humid island (although some desert areas in the north).

Aw, thank you! It's just taking elements of my own personal story I like to fiddle with and adding in some Final Fantasy/Golden Sun settings. I thought it would be really fun to try out! And it's totally okay if you don't have the time. I completely understand being too busy.

That's great! Thank you for letting me know you're interested though! It helps with positions and filling and whatnot.

ALSO! Important note! I forgot to put the kind of ethnicity appearance of each empire. So I've added it at the bottom of the main post. Please read before submitting character skeletons! Thanks!

Ahh, could you highlight it in red? I skimmed it twice and seriously read once looking for it! D: Main post is first post right? >.<

Glad you understand and my, you sound busy yourself! I'm happy you find time for us though. ;D Don't forget to destress from those stressful days at work~. And yes, because this is a fantastic idea! And my, you're writing a story with this basic equation for the settings? I didn't enjoy FF so much and never heard of Golden Sun, though I did like Advent Children the movie for FF....

I'd love to read it when you want someone to check it over and give C+C! :D (Just sayin')

Edit: I can see it now, thank you! :"D I think you were still editing it when I posted this... @o@

But dayum~ So many charries I could use for this... :"D

Sorry, I might not have edited it and saved it in time for you to read. But I highlighted it all in red now!

Oh gosh, work is just... It's only a part-time job right now, but it might as well be full time. I work about 40-50 hours in two weeks and get paid the minimum (which was raised in British Columbia to $10.25 an hour, thankfully), so it's not like the money is too bad (I don't drive. Prefer biking and walking. Much more environmentally friendly!). It's just... dealing with customers all day everyday. The Canadian stereotype is to be polite, and for the most part, yes, everybody in town is extremely friendly and kind. It's just those few rude people who really, really wreck a good day...

Why, one of them almost made a co-worker of mine burst into tears last week! She's only sixteen and hardly stands at 5'3". Tiny and sweet with a high-pitch giggle that can simply be described as plain adorable. Yet this old man was just... Argh!

It's always older people too. Never the younger or middle aged.

Blah... I'm sorry for the rant. It frustrates me more than anything in the world to notice unnecessarily rude people. Especially to obviously undeserving little Deli girls like my co-worker. Makes me want to flip tables in my rage.

Final Fantasy is okay. I've never enjoyed too many of the games, only the ninth installment. However, I love their class system (white mages, black mages, archers, etc.) and use of forwards and defensive character plays. And Golden Sun is a beautiful, beautiful GameBoy Advance game. Older, with a direct sequel then a third game branched off from the last. Amazing characters too.

Oh, I'm too slow at writing to let anyone read what I jot down. It's just a story I've worked on for nearly eleven years and have always kept close. I'll probably never release it publicly. My friends and family know about it, but it's been a quiet world of my own for so long it's strange to think of sharing it...

Agh, long reply is... well, long. Sorry. I talk too much, as stated before.

I'd still love to hear more about it if you ever feel ready to let someone read the notes. For all you know, you may change your mind. Well everyone loves this RP idea! So I hope you feel a tad bit better about sharing it. I can't wait to see the posts you write, I hope you ramble in those, too. I love reading long posts and it helps me make mine longer, too! ^_^

Now as for that old man, WHAT THE HECK? D: I know what you mean, old people are actually way ruder than the middle-age and teenagers. (And teenagers are rude...) :// You must live in a pricey place for that to be the minimum! I mean the highest minimum for a part time that I've only seen $10 at the highest... and that's from a fast food from California. :x

And here, in Texas, that's a lot! @.@

Ahh, so I'm not the only one who didn't really enjoy FF. ;x I see, I only played pokemon when I had a GBA and now with the first DS version, I only play what my besty gave me. XD

This is rather interesting. Well thought out too. I'm trying to get back into rping myself and I might join up. I'll have to see how things go, I myself work in fast food, but I don't get nearly the hours or the pay you do. I've had a few oddball experiences then, if you say old people are rude. But then again I had a different job at the time. I used to work at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World Florida, and the kids and elderly had been nice and friendly. It was when you got to like the upper high-school and middle aged that people got rude. Sometimes even in front of their own kids. O.o

I've played Golden sun before myself. Loved the game, I cry sometimes because someone stole my GBA then the SP and the old DS that played the GBA games too. Damn mutant-theiving dickwads. I CURSE YOU TO THE DEEPEST PITS FOR STEALING MY GAMES! Oops sorry. If you don't care much for FF(and Advent Children was awesome), have you ever tried or heard of Fire Emblem?

British Columbia is the most expensive province to live. Housing is ridiculous here! My sister and I tried moving out together this winter and we were just defeated by obnoxious skyrocketing number! Last year minimum wage was only $8.50, but it was raised in two increments in the last fourteen months due to such high prices everywhere.

$10 as the highest?! Really? Wow! I guess it's a bit less expensive in the United States than it is in Canada, but still... That's unreasonable. The cost of living is still pretty high there!

Oooh, Pokemon   Don't get me started!

I hear working in fast food is the worst! It's always so busy and exhausting and you're constantly unappreciated. But how can parents possibly be rude in front of their own kids? I've never understood that. Do they want the kids to reflect on that and grow in the same manner? They're just asking for it!

Golden Sun! Oh gosh it's the most amazing game evereverever! Ahh, fanboy mode for me! How dare someone take your Gameboys! Those are a '90's and 2000's kid's childhood!

I adore Fire Emblem. I've only ever played one version of it, Sacred Stones, because the main characters are female/male twins, and my sister and I are female/male twins, so our parents thought it 'twas witty (deep down my sister and I thought it was funny too, but never shall we tell our parents). Seth is such a beast. I played through the game the first time just destroying with him. My sister prefers keeping every single character alive and leveling them all up evenly. She takes forever to do it! Gah. Joshua was amazing too. His attack stance and the animation of his movements in battle were so fun to watch!

The video I linked is this hilarious video called, "Confessions of a Disney Employee". Everyone, but especially Amani, watch it.
Good God, this is the most beautiful thing ever. EVER.

><; You make it sound like writing a lot is a bad thing. It's not, I just didn't have the time yesterday to really read it all. I have been known to crank out 2000+ posts before so I totally know what it's liked to get carried away with something.
It's fun getting carried away, isn't it? I just feel bad when blabbing so much because sometimes when people are tired, grumpy and just don't want to read, seeing paragraph after paragraph makes it all worse for them :(

I played the Fire Emblem that came out before Sacred Stones. Then I got Sacred Stones, but I never finished either...Though I don't think I ever really got started in Stones. Now I have Path of Radiance, but no gamecube to play it on. Much as I want to just plow through many times, I hold back to make sure that none of my peeps die...Apparently if you can keep them all alive it works better towards the end because you'll have a bunch of powered up fighters, can unlock certain skills or recruit other people, or get a gift from a house...I did defeat Golden sun though. I just never got to collect all the little creatures. They were cute. I want some as a plushie now.

Eh. Fast food certainly has its downfalls. I've been hit on, insulted, yelled at, taken advantage of by my own managers.(not the sexual kind either, I just happen to be very willing to help so I've had days where I've stayed almost 12hrs.) I've had a few though that do make it worth working there. I've done drive thru and I've sen people come up with dogs in their car and they'll let me pet it, we talk about the pet a bit, I've had some compliment me on being polite, and clear, even through the speakers. One of them tried to offer me a second job that would work around my fast food schedule! But I chose not to. It was hard enough as is to see my boyfriend anyway without taking up a second job.

but now I'm curious about something....You have a core type, then a tribal skill....I don't seem to quite be getting it.

Hm... It's like languages and dialects! In Canada the majority speaks English (this is ignoring the Canadiens. Sorry Francophones!), so it's the same language. However, the dialects change as you travel West to East or South to North. People in British Columbia say words different than those in Ontario. We like to use d's rather than t's where there's a double t-sound (Example: Hotter isn't hot-ter to us. We say 'hodder').

Same as the accent of Newfoundland is completely different to the rest of Canada. As is the subtle Nova Scotia dialect, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, etc... They all speak English, just differently.

Core types are affected by adaptation of the region one lives in (it's genetic, so it has to do with ancestry too). Most of Belgor use earth-based core types. However, within different tribes, they have created and passed down through their culture a specific technique. Typically, it reflects a bit on the core type.

So, while one might live in the capital of Belgor (Aarland) and have an earth-base core, someone from the northern part of the empire would have the same earth-base core as the capitalist. The difference is their tribe specialty.

Some people don't even have tribes. Although most do. I use the word 'tribe', but honestly I don't mean an actual cult. I'm referring more to a bloodline.

Sorry for the big rant. Did it help at all though?

A little. I'm just unsure about, say I have a character with a water core type from the belgorian empire, who specialize in sneak skill and hunting, what exactly would the tribal skill be? Thats something I'm unsure about...How do you pick a tribal skill that fits both qualifications?
