If you can put together a particularly stylish, fun or eye-catching outfit, then there's a good chance that it could be you!

This isn't about being the "best dressed" though, it's not about having a better outfit than anyone else, it's solely about what happens to catch my eye, what makes me see an avatar and think "I like that!" for whatever reason, and there could be any number of reasons for that happening:

- Often I see a theme within the outfit that captures my imagination (even if the outfit's creator had no theme in mind).
- Other times it's clever use of different items to create something that looks like a completely new item.
- On many occasions it's skillful colour and layer balancing with items that compliment each other well.
- And sometimes it's simply because an outfit makes me laugh...truly anyone has a chance at winning if they have enough imagination

If you are a winner, you get to see your avatar on the site's home page for a week, plus you receive a prize of 5000 gold!

Your winning outfit will be permanently displayed in the winner's gallery.

You can also win more than once, but only after 3 months have past since the last time you were picked.

So discuss winners past and present here, and show off your own avatar if you think you might have a winning outfit, but don't expect to be picked just by hanging out in this thread a lot

Hints and tips

If you're keen on improving your chances of winning, here are some helpful pointers for you.

• Try for as balanced a look as possible. Too much of one colour in one area will throw the whole look off.
• Make good use of accessories; a combination of bare arms, legs or midriff, and no hand held items makes for an incomplete looking avatar.
• Use your hair to its best advantage:
  • go for a contrasting colour that compliments your outfit, rather than one that blends in and disappears.
  • use a shade that matches an accent colour that you haven't used a lot of.
  • If you want to use the same shade as your predominant outfit colour, use a shorter style so the hair and item are seperated and don't just form a big amorphous blob of the same colour.
• Don't be afraid to be brave with unusual colour combinations.
• Aim for flow, the items of your outfit need to look good together.
• Following on from that, use your layering wisely. For example, a short, tight skirt over the top of a big pouffy one that sticks out around the sides of it isn't going to look good. Try to pair items so they don't conflict messily.

• Beware of clutter, there's a fine line between achieving a balanced look and becoming weighed down with handhelds and head items.
• Don't add items to your look simply because they're the right colour, if they don't go with the other items, you're just going to look silly. For example; pairing a plaid lumberjack coat with an exotic skirt simply because they're both lilac, DON'T DO IT!
• Don't be boring with colour:
  • wearing the same colour from head to toe is NEVER going to win.
  • wearing just 2 colours is also unlikely to win, especially if you've matched your hair to your outfit. Pink + white all over = fail.
  • using the same colour combinations as everyone else won't make you stand out. Try and stear clear of the black/red/gold or black/silver/red combos unless you have an original twist, they're just too over-done.
• Whilst items need to have a certain degree of matching, don't get obsessive about it. Ending up looking like a puddle of well proportioned colours isn't the objective here, flair is needed.
• Don't go for a look that is too similar to a previous winner.
• Don't use too many items from one set, that lacks originality.
• If you think you've come up with the perfect outfit DON'T change it on a Sunday evening!!
  Admin's Pick is chosen on a Monday, imagine how it feels for me to find the perfect candidate on Saturday, only to find they've changed into something boring by Monday!
  More than one member has missed out on winning because they've done this.
• Don't snipe about other people's winning outfits. I won't tolerate rudeness or sore grapes in my thread. Not everyone's tastes are the same. Each winner is my personal choice, not necessarily who looks the best on the entire site, because no-one ever gets to see everyone's avatar, just who I see that I like and think deserves some recognition for a well put together outfit. So please don't take away someone's pleasure in winning by being bitchy.

As with most of the other older picks, it's not great by today's standards. But we didn't have very many items back then, so there was only so much that could be done.
I've considered updating it, though.
