Ah, I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm not a feminist, but I wouldn't really want to be a stay-at-home parent either. I mean, I have the greatest of respect for those who do and who enjoy it, but I would crack up staying at home all the time. Have you thought of getting a little part time job on the side, something you can do when your partner isn't working? :]

My partner works 8:30 am until 7:30pm during the week which means I'd have to work at night (overnight, actually) if we were to avoid having to pay a sitter. I wouldn't be able to do that and be up during the day in order to watch our son. We can't afford to send him to daycare even if I did work because all I have in the way of experience is for minimum wage jobs that would have a hard time giving me enough hours right now to cover the costs of daycare.
It's a pretty sticky situation and uncomfortable/unhappy. I'm hoping that with time another solution will present itself.

Ah, that's a lot of hours, what does he work as, if you don't mind me being nosy? How about weekends? If you wanted an airmail child you could just mail him over and I'd babysit him. ;D

He works in a call center taking calls in both French and English from dental professionals providing them with customer support. He gets paid a decent amount per hour and he really enjoys being able to practice his French with native speakers.
:XD Airmail toddler!

Ooh, that's an interesting job. That's the first I've heard of that sort of call centre before. :3
People say that growing up in airmail impairs your childhood, but I like to disagree. I currently have several children living in the postal service, and they're fine. xDD

Welp, false alarm - he just wanted to spend a while cuddling. Now he's up and roaming about the living room and sitting room.

I have no idea. :XD
Sometimes it's cute when he gets cuddly but he always seems to decide to want to cuddle while I'm in the middle of doing something. :stare:

I'm a very cuddly person naturally, that's the main reason I like babies, you can just cuddle them for hours and they can't complain. I also enjoy hugging my pets against their will. xD

See, I'm not naturally a cuddly person. I prefer my space and kids require lots of space and cuddles. It just doesn't work out for me.

Ah, I see your problem. I personally don't like children much, I like them up until about a year...and then they start talking and walking and things and I become less fond of them. That's me disliking them until they turn 10 or so. xD

Flat Stanley is a children's book about a little boy who gets squished flat and then has all sorts of adventures, including being shipped in a large envelope to his grandmother's house. lol.

Huh. I'm not sure if I've ever heard of that children's book. I don't think so and the concept is kind of .. weird. I don't think I'd like being squashed flat and mailed to someone's house!

My grandma would probably shred me if I was paper thin and posted to her. She is the epitome of the joke Alan Carr did about old people shredding things. xD Have you heard it?

I read it when I was little. Now they have a pretty common activity used in elementary schools, where they read the book and then the class gets a flat Stanley which the teacher gives to a child to mail to a relative. The relative is then supposed to make a journal and take pictures of Stanley and send that back so Stanley can go to the next child, sort of like the Yan contest.

That sounds fun! I would love it if schools did something like that here, sadly Scotland just isn't cool enough for that. xD

I actually loved the schools that I was in, it was always guaranteed to be fun. The classes in the secondary school I went to were varied and you did get a lot of choice. I just happened to leave a year early because it was becoming a little too claustrophobic for me. So I start college on Monday.
