Well, most of the people I've talked to here at my university say they live an hour or two away, at least. =3 So I think it's a big factor of why people move out after they're 18. Then I suppose there are people who just can't get along with their families. I know a few of those too.
Yeah, I was so relieved. My wallet, credit cards, keys, passport, cellphone, etc. everything was in there. I would have been pretty devastated if it had disappeared. In fact, not a single thing was missing from the bag when I got it back. The guy who found it just turned it over to the cashier/counter, and no one took even a dollar bill from me. XD"
*laughs* I learned from United Airlines that being a bitch when you're upset is a very good way to get due compensation from companies that fail at customer service. XDDD
Thank you. <3 That's very kind of you. *huggles* :heart:
Haha, you can learn though? I cooked for my family for a couple of years before I left the country to study. My mother is often busy, so whenever she couldn't make it back in time, I'd cook dinner instead. We have domestic help, but the woman is a terrible cook. She is an honest lady who is excellent at cleaning and organizing things, but oh, she could even make stir-fried vegetables taste absolutely inedible. =__=" My grandmother is awfully fussy about food, so she refused to eat the maid's cooking unless the only other option was starvation, and I honestly couldn't blame her. There was a very short list of things that our maid could cook decently, so we let her cook those. Anything else, it had to be me or my mother. My grandmother was a fine cook back in her day, but now she can barely stand without help, so she can't cook anymore. =3 Thus, it often fell to me to do the cooking. My mother would call and tell me what to make for dinner, the maid would wash and cut the ingredients according to our instructions, and I'd do the actual cooking. XD"
Yeah, I hate it when guys randomly come grind with you even in clubs. That's why I always stick with the people I know. =3 And I'm quite selective when it comes to partners. I like to know quite a fair bit about them before I'd even consider spending time on them, so the whole meeting in dance club business really isn't my thing. :lol: When I like a person though, I can get pretty creepy. I stalk people for a while to find out as much about them as I can before I decide whether they're worth further pursuit. XDDD"
Eh, I like to think I'm pretty decent at cooking. I make mistakes sometimes, but I learn from them. And since I always make so much, if I don't share, it goes to waste. I'd rather that didn't happen. Even if I save it for the following day as leftovers, it doesn't taste as good as when I first finished cooking it, so I usually try to get it all eaten on the day I cook it. =)
*laughs* Oh, did Iro and I mention that when she was in Australia, she'd often ask me for cooking tips/ideas/recipes when we talked on IM, so I generally had a fairly good idea of what was in her fridge? X3 It was quite funny when I went to her house while we were both back in Malaysia to find that she'd mistakenly given her grandmother the impression that she never cooked. :rofl: Language barrier, orz. |DDDD"
Eh? That's good, I guess? ^_^" Glad to be educational even if I don't know what kind of knowledge I'm imparting, lol. <333 And it's definitely a good way to earn gold here, haha. :heart:

:gonk:
I can't read that.
Anybody else have problems staying warm? I can never really produce body heat, which is odd since I'm not skinny.
Haha, I eat everything, even the horrible stuff. I'm probably really unhealthy on the inside.
I can't really cook. Well I can, but never really learned. I learn from hands on experience, which my parents won't really let me do. Which is odd and completely contradictory to what parents say usually.
I crush really easy... Which sucks. My first crush was a jerk and an old neighbor, my current crush... He is clever and nice and... :heart:
GRINDING does not count as dancing to me. Seriously... School dances are terrible.

@Hatake Ayumi: I'm average, I guess. I mean, I'm not especially resistant to the cold, but not particularly susceptible either. =3
Err... Well, maybe they're afraid you'd hurt yourself or blow something up? Not saying you would, just that I can imagine the reason for their hesitance.
Aww~ XD" Well, I hope he likes you too! :heart:
I think grinding as part of dancing is okay. It certainly shouldn't be the whole dance! XD"
@Crystalunicorn: Watchmen is a superhero movie adapted from one of DC's many comic series. The movie was a great adaptation, or so my friends who read the graphic novels say. I really enjoyed it, although my favourite character didn't get enough screen time. =3

Haha, maybe you could just start by helping out in the kitchen (preparing ingredients, etc). You could move up to actually cooking slowly as your family adjusts to the idea of you being a part of the cooking process. XD"

Oh, well, good night then. Sleep well and sweet dreams. <3
It's nice chatting with you too. Please feel free to drop by again any time. =)
Ah, lol, but that's precisely why there's no hurry. When you get to university, you'll probably know only a handful of people there. Since there'll be fewer expectations of you in a social context, you can always reinvent your image. There'll also be more people to meet and choose from. Even if you don't find someone then, you can always meet people during your career. Besides, people change over the course of their lives, and a person's personality doesn't really stabilize until they hit their thirties. So the people you hook up with later in life are more likely to be the people you really want to be with in the long run because, by then, you'll have a pretty good idea about what you want for the rest of your life. Hence, even if there's no one who likes you for you around you now, I'm sure you'll meet someone like that eventually. =3

Yeah, that's true. =O But, whatever the reason may be, I still find it such a different concept compared to us over here. ^^;; We like to stay together with our families as much as possible, most of the time. xDD;;
And woah, that's extremely fortunate of you! =O I'm glad that nothing was stolen and that the worst was avoided then.
Reminds me of when my dad left his wallet and his cellphone in a pizza parlor. We were almost at home already when he noticed it, so we had to drive back and stuff. When we got there, it was still all there. My dad was SO relieved, since it turned out he has a TON of cash in there (and not some normal amount, trust me, since he just deposited a lot of it to pay for something, and my mom even scolded him for having so much in the first place >.>). Also, his phone has, like, 300+ contacts and numbers that would have been a PAIN to get all back.
When my dad found out who gave it back (the person was still eating and the waiter was... waiting on people xDD), he treated them both by buying them cake. 8DD;; What made it funny was how ecstatic he was! I mean, it was intense, I'm not kidding. xDDD;;
And OHYES, that's true. =O My mom especially believes it. ^^;; It's very useful, especially in restaurants, because as they say, "The customer is always right." xDD;;
And aww, no problem~ :3 <3<3
*huggles back*
:>
And ohh, really? I see~ That's an awesome cooking thing you have going on there. xDD;;
Our house helps always know how to cook, since my parents would have never hired them if they didn't. ^^;; I can't cook because I never was given an opportunity to. Although, when I do try, I've come to discover that cooking is NOT one of my strengths, at all. xDD;;
I do a lot of baking though. :> From brownies to cookies to cakes and the like. xDD;; So, I'd like to believe that baking somehow makes up for my lack of cooking. ^^;; Not that it really does, but it's a whole less depressing when I think of it that way. xDDD;;
And I agree. =O I'm also the type that would want to get to know the person first before I even consider getting into a relationship with someone. I guess that's why I've never had an official boyfriend before, because I'm so darn picky. xDD;; But hey, I would rather be picky than just settle for any cheap guy who only wants to make out and stuff. >.>;; Eww, I'd like to think that I'm worth more and that I deserve more than guys like that. xDD;;
<-- is very picky, as already stated ^^;;
And aww, that's such positive thinking. :3 I envy you though. xDD;;
And really? OMGLOLZ. 8DD;; That's real funny. 8DDD;;
And what I mean is that I'm learning more about stuff in the US, I guess, and more about you, in general~ I like finding things about people. :3 <3<3
Conversations like this sometimes make me wish that they would increase the gold maximum though. xDDD;; <3<3

@Rylynne:
Yeah, that was really lucky. And good for your dad! It would be horrible if so much money were gone. I'd be pretty ecstatic myself. It's really nice of him to buy them cake too. XD
*laughs* Oh in restaurants. You should ask my friends. Apparently, I'm a legend for asserting consumer rights. :sweat:
Baking's good. ^__^d I rarely bake and don't really look for recipes to do so because I'm not a big dessert person. I just made some brownies though because my previous roommate left me three boxes of brownie mix, and no one was eating them. So I decided to make some for myself before it expires and goes to waste. XD"
I still think that good cooking can be learned. You can always start by following recipes. =3
That part was supposed to illustrate my creepy stalker-ish tendencies, although I'm certainly very picky, yes. XDD" There's a guy I like at work, and by the second time I meet him, I know his major, his year in school, the major he'll probably be switching to, the classes he takes this semester, when his other shifts are at work, his usual fashion style when not at work and even his favourite comic book character. My friend is like, "Omg, you are SO CREEPY." XDDDD"
Yes, it's quite funny. See, her grandmother speaks mainly Cantonese. Iro speaks mainly English. Iro's Cantonese is...quite fail. XD" And when people say that they cook in Cantonese, the literal words they use is "cook rice." What Iro meant to say was that she rarely cooked rice (as opposed to cooking noodles or eggs, etc). But since she didn't clarify, it sounded to the dismayed old lady as if she never cooked, period. :lol: I was extremely amused when her grandmother lamented at me over lunch about how Iro didn't cook in Australia and always ate unhealthy outside food, haha.
Eh? There's a cap on how much you can earn by posting? I don't think so... The gold maximum only applies to games. =3

@ Xiel and Hatake : There is a gold limit of 20g in posting, according to mellie. =O I read it in a thread before, even recently, I think. I'll look for it if I have the time later. 8DD;;
@ Xiel : Yeah, he was really lucky there. He has this natural lucky streak too. xDD;; Just this week, he lost his phone. But the next day, he got it back, because one of the drivers who was parked near his car saw it and returned it to his office. The chances of that happening are SO slim, but they happened. @_@;; My mom called my dad a lucky bastard when he got it back from the driver (who btw he also bought a cake for xDDD). 8DDD;;
And lolz, really? xDD;; We should go to a restaurant together sometimes then. I also have a very good record of asserting my customer's rights. xDDDD;; We would probably make such a demanding duo. 8DD;;
Brownies are my favorite thing to make. :3 Especially since they're the fastest for me, and because I'm a brownie lover. 8DD;; What's annoying though is that my family can sense it when I'm baking, or sometimes even before I make them they go, "Oh, you're about to make brownies, right?" xDD;; So, yeah, they disappear in a day or two. ;_;
Chocolates and sweets have a VERY short lifespan in our household. 8DD;; Like, seriously, no joke. =|
And woah, that IS kind of stalker-ish. xDD;; I'm too lazy to be a stalker, since I hate research. 8DD;; Which is why the guys are usually the ones who make an effort to approach me. ^^;; Only time when I'll actually go out of my way and get to know someone more through asking other people and stuff is if I really am interested, which actually has only happened once in my life. 8DD;;
... yes, pickiness again. ^^;;
And really? LOLZ. 8DD;; Aww, the powers of language. xDD;; She really lamented to you then? 8DD;;

Personally, I think that's a singularly bad reason to start seeing someone.

@Rylynne:
Oh, really? That's new to me. But then again, I don't often type enough to get 20g anyway, so that's okay. XD"
Omg, that really IS awfully lucky. XDD"
I think I'd pity the serving staff. 8D"
Oh, that's just the opposite in my house. If I ever make dessert, I should expect to eat 90%of it. :lol:
I usually start stalking someone because I'm genuinely interested. Then even if I turn out not to like the person that much, I enjoy stalking anyway...maybe because it creeps other people out. XDDD"
Yeah. I talk to her grandma a fair bit whenever I go over, and I think the lady kinda enjoys my company because I speak fairly fluent Cantonese and I know a lot of those old wives' tales about the things you should or shouldn't eat in what order that Chinese families pass down in the herbal medicine tradition. *laughs* Speaking of not-clever guys, I think they're everywhere. The stupid vastly outnumber the intelligent, after all. XD"
I work in the cafeteria dishroom on Sunday nights. I was busy as usual today when one of the garbage disposal systems starts malfunctioning, so I go over to the guy there to see if there's anything I can do to help fix it. When the water churns back up because it won't go down the clogged system, I see bits of paper everywhere, so I ask him, "Where does all this paper come from?"
Him: It was wrapped around some raw meat.
Me: That's the problem. I don't think you're supposed to put paper down the garbage disposal.
Him: Well, now we know.
And I raise my eyebrows and think, "Hang on; speak for yourself. Just 2 feet away from you in the same dishroom, we're told to throw all the paper, tissue and plastic items coming in from the dining hall into a trash bin. Obviously, that's because it's not supposed to go down the bloody garbage disposal. So do we really not know or are you just not using your common sense?" :headdesk: But of course, you have to work with these people, so you can't tell them that. Thus, I just wave the supervisor over to have him deal with the mess. *facepalms*
Well, that's better than me. I'm 21, and I still can't drive. XD"
Hey, isn't his skipping a grade part of why you like him? Probably means he's at least not stupid. XDD"

And pfft, it's their job to please customers in the first place. xDD;; And besides, if they do a good job, then we won't have anything to complain about and we would all go on happily with our lives. 8DD;;
And aww, lucky! D: I wish I was as fortunate. ;^; My family members turn into greedy monsters when it comes to dessert. >.>;; It's not a very pretty site. D: Although, it IS amusing when, for example, there's only one piece of brownie or one slice of cake left. xDDD;;
And you enjoy stalking people cause it creeps other people out? o_O;; Interesting logic~ xDD;;
And you do? =O Why do you know? Was it passed down to you by your own grandparents or something?
Sorry, just curious. ^^;; We also have our own variation of that in the Philippines, but I don't know any of them. xDD;; Probably only the most famous ones. ^^;;
And LOLZ. xDD;; Well, it's cause it's for St. Patrick's Day. 8DD;; I like dressing for occasions. ^^;; <3<3 Even if I don't celebrate said holidays in real life. xDD;;
