In the foothills of the central mountains of Menewsha there are a number of rustic lodges. These are used by the foresters and gamekeepers, and as a base by anyone who wishes to visit the higher parts of the island as they provide safe shelter after nightfall.

Cedar Valley Lodge is in a sheltered dip in the rising hills, protected from the north winds by the flank of the mountain rising behind it, and with an unparallelled view across the island to the south. On a clear day, with a good telescope, you can see all the way to Rochelle Harbor on the south coast of the island.

Upstairs in the lodge you will be warm and safe. Natural gas is piped in from a vent deep underground, and this provides both heat and light (it's always cooler up in the mountains). The stone foundations protect from brush fires in the warmer weather.

Menewsha's dragon population lives on the other side of the mountain, within the circular valley created by the ring of tallest peaks. They do occasionally fly across this valley, but none have been sighted so far this year. There are also no records of any dragons having been seen in the valley itself so have no fears for your safety in that regard. But you might be lucky and see one on the wing.
