Wonderful! Good to see people achieve their dream avatars here! Hehe
I really enjoy this community, it is a lot more controlled as opposed to other
places. I am really enjoying the community too, in that the level of rudeness
is basically absent. Everybody i have talked with, have been delightful and i
find the slower rate of posting, to be far more proficient too. In that there are
no fly-bys who just bump. It's really refreshing! and the avatars are beautiful

I also love having the opportunity to change hair, and eyes as well. Haha
I'm not used to so much freedom! I ended up PMing an assistant, so fingers
crossed my post gets cleared. Lol. Shocking, the day i joined i totally failed at
creating a new avatar, from the default - as i didn't realise you had to press
the save changes button, for previews and such. I was just clicking the drop
down tabs, and waiting for my av to change. Haha. Silly me.

Went and made a thread in the Information section, realised what i had been
doing wrong... and well. Basically it made my whole thread redundant. Gosh!
The Mod who replied was very nice, and didn't rub it in or anything. Haha.
Which i was so thankful for! I felt like such a nub. Lols.

There are hundreds of people who had achieved their dream avatars and thanks to things such as Quester's Raffle and Giving Back Auctions we have a possibility to obtain even those really rare and expensive items - with a bit of luck, of course :)

I'm glad you like it here. I really enjoyed this community from first few days I spent here. Most people seems really nice and no-spam rule is very refreshing comparing to a few other sites. As for slower rate of posting - during these hours it's always pretty calm here, but in about 5-6 hours there will be much more people.

And don't worry, I'm pretty sure that lots of people had the same problem with saving avatar - I've seen couple of threads like that. And our mods are really nice, helpful and patient (as well as other users), so nobody is going to shout at you only because you asked about something which seems to be so "silly".

Plus Joe just bought us a laptop, so i just sat in bed
all day yesterday, and played away while he watched
the Avatar DVDs. Ahhhh.... good times! If only i didn't
hafta go back to yucky art history on Monday. Fuu...

I am thinking about leaving the Army, i've realised life
would be more fun without it looming in the background
and i won't have big chunks of my time missing, being used
up on camps or whatever. I'll miss it like crazy, but i guess
life goes on. It means full dedication to the artist thing too.

Argh, i went to a meet and greet on Friday night. There's an
art comp here at the end of the year that i want to enter and
seeing all the other artists, i'm the youngest and i knew hardly
anybody! It was so daunting seeing all these top artists who
work on community sculptures and stuff - and little old student me
caught in amongst them. Joe and i got stared at all bloody night. Lmao

Oh yay! You got wireless internet dude? We've got one of those modems too.
Pity we don't have laptop to use it xDD. We bought one for $250.00 off a family friend of mine. Got it home and realised it was slow as in loading up, after formatting it n stuff it was still the same. Took it to our computer mate and realised there was structural damage to the hard drive. I was soo pissed =|! I went back to my family friend mate and told him about it, he was all like ... "oh it was fine when i had it". And since he's like this huge guy who would squish me in a second, i really couldn't say much back! Just know i don't trust him anymore ... Can't believe that someone who i counted as family would do something like that to me ... Luckily our mate fixed it and we could sell it on .. But still that's not the frekkin point!

Anyway, oh yeh i thought you had left already dude? I haven't heard that you had been on a camp or anything in ages ... But i say good for you! If you really want to take your art seriously then it's the best thing to do! Also your growing older now you have a boyfriend/stable relationship in which you are now talking about future things like family n marriage n stuff and i just think that the army is more for people who don't really have those attachments or for those who have been married a long time.
For me i just think that being in the army and having a family is a bit selfish, because you never know when your gonna be deployed, and whether your marching into the arms of your death. I mean don't get me wrong, i am proud of those who die for their country and for peoples safety and to keep the peace. But if it was me in that situation i wouldn't be able to leave my family behind, it would be too hard (i been watching too much armywives episodes) xD.

So you gonna enter the comp though??

Yeah, the army is a bit of a selfish life. To tell you the truth i allowed some things
to happen that should not have. I haven't repeated them to anybody, but i would
not say it out loud. So i'll hafta PM ya. Lol! Nothing bad! Not like i went and cheated
on my partner or anything like that. But i can see what you mean, these days we have
a choice in doing things, it's not like i'm pressured to be there, and die for my country
i joined because i was single, so everything you're saying totally makes sense. The
army was my life before - and it isn't now. So what's the point of wasting space on
leave all the time?? I have held this day off for years now, I should have done it a long
time ago.

I just don't believe in going away, and wanting nothing other than to get to a phone
so i can call home. Cadets was all about going away, and enjoying it. We did just that
you know? So i guess my time is up really. I was just grasping at straws. I won't be
getting back in to shape again like i was, with this life style either.

That laptop thing is so rude! Lol. What a jerk... and coming from somebody who is like
family even, that is pretty low. Lols. At least you managed to sell it again. But no doubt
he knew something was wrong with it. Hahah. I hope it didn't end up costing you more
to sell it, than purchase it in the first place. Sucky! Erm, with the art thing. Yeah i might
as well. I am going to be finishing school in early October, so i have to keep myself busy
and might as well use up the rest of that year to finish the piece for the comp. I dunno
what the prizes are though. But i heard they were pretty big.

I gotta come up with an idea too. I was thinking of maybe doing a painting, that is layered
and it has characters in it? So paint on different boards, and glue them together or make
them so they can be arranged into place. Kinda like you put everything together like the
paintings are all bits of lego. Lmao. Does that make sense?

Yeah i can imagine the army taking the fun outta everything. Especially when the only thing you think about is your partner waiting for you back home! Your def right to enjoy it you have to be single and have no problems and be carefree. I mean cadets was awesome because all our friends were there enjoying it with us. It's not as if you can have that in the army aye dude? Yeh def PM me what happened!!

Yeh totally bummer on the laptop! I wanted to keep it but because Zane bought it, it was his decision. Basically, it cost $250.00 for the laptop & $70.00 for the hard drive. And we sold it for $400.00 so we got our money back and a little on top. But that wasn't the point, you expect honesty from people that you care about and are close to your family. I just couldn't believe it aye?! Then again, Zane did his whole sound system for him and he was meant to do some shit for Zane but never ended up doing it. So i kinda can see how this could happen.

Oh yeh i get it dude lol, sounds good! You know i just love art aye, theres this shop in Botany Town centre here in Auckland, and there was this beautiful piece. I mean millions of people have drawn the same kinda piece, but this captured me with it's colours, it was like a moon in the sky glistening over water but it was like this weird kinda blue and purple. I was like whoa! I so wanted that, but it was like $500.00! It reminded me of the way Dylan draws. He's so talented dude, i don't know why he's wasting his talents on being a cop! Hey dude did you get those pics i sent you of Dylans art that time?

and to answer your question about the wireless net. Nah, dad has his laptop inside - he uses the wireless modem, and we have a network cable plugged in, that runs from the house, to another modem out here that we run the main PC from. We use a cable for the laptop. Although the laptop picks up the wireless modem from inside, i don't know why Joe insists on using the cable. It's not much of a hassle really. It's the internet i guess, and that's all we really need. Netbrowsing in bed. Lmao.

Thanks for the optimism dude! I will so need it xD I just don't see how i am going to fit in with these artists here, they're all older than me, they all talk down to me. I hate it. I was talking to a friend at tech about it, she's really good artist - but she is very mainstream. I was saying how i hate this attitude that people who teach art, are better than artists. Because at the art thing, i had one teacher ask me what i specialize in... Which is okay, but i told her - i don't know yet, because i love everything i get my hands on... She gave me this funny look...

Like something was wrong with me, she just would not accept that i am happy doing everything. So after i told her i didn't have one yet, she asked again, as if to say... well you should have something. Answer me properly... I was like... Wtf?? I explained all that to my classmate, and she had the same outlook on it. She was like... Well people just want to label you as an artist. So again, i said i don't want to stunt my own career, by sticking to one medium, and that it's boxing yourself in - basically once somebody has seen one piece of yours, they expect the rest to be of the same vein. She stopped listening.

I was glad when our tutor said - Many artists do not specialize, and it is perfectly normal. They simply say they're visual artists. So that's what i am going to answer people with in the future. Sooo peeved that my fellow classmate would say that... I am sure she didn't mean it to offend me. But it just cut really deep in to a nerve. Lols. Stupid crap >.<

Hmm, no i don't think we got around to Dylan's art. I remember talking about it on MSN that one time, but it would be nice to see them for sure! So he is actually a copper now? that kinda sucks, but i guess he will have more stability. Even though on a level of fulfillment, he'd probably be more successful doing what his passion is. I have a cop friend up in Auckland, she sounds like she isn't enjoying it, because of some of the gruesome things she sees. She was telling me about this suicide she went to recently, where a chick covered herself in petrol, and burnt herself up in her garage.

She reckons it'll scar her for life. In fact most of it will. Lols... You gotta be one tough cookie to deal with those sorts of scenes day in and day out.

Anyway, how are you?

Not too bad ^^. Started study again today, so it's been pretty crazy. I am doing the Art
History module at the moment. Looking at Post Modernism.. I gotta say... Wow, i wanted
to be an artist and all, and i never would have figured that art history would be as
important as they made it out to be - but it really is. No matter how hard it is to understand
and determine... It's kinda like... trying to learn something while you're intoxicated. LOL
Post modernism, and modernism hurt my braincells... Lols!

After 4 weeks of holidays, it's a big jump getting back in to the whole academic arena. It's
very draining. Anywhoo, enough about that - how are you ^^?
