That's what I mean, I don't have a job, unemployed would be my 'official' occupation.
I should be looking but for some reason have found myself doing anything but actively look...so silly of me.
However, I've also kept myself busy doing other things...some more useful than others.

Sorry I haven't been around much to chat or share any recipes lately.
Life has been a little crazy, we are dealing with some family issues mostly & work.
Hopefully I will be able to get back in here & chat more sometime soon.

Thanks for understanding & of course I will come back & check on you.
Miscreant's mom has been in & out of the hospital so we went to visit her.
It was a nice visit, now I'm just hoping that the treatments work & that she will get better.
While we were visiting her I finally got to try something that I had been wanting to try for years, but there aren't any places here that serve it.
So I went to look up a recipe to share. It is a little different from what I had, but it still sounds good.
Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce Recipe - Allrecipes.com
Falafel was really good. We also tried a chicken dish.
This is the closest recipe I can find to it.
Spicy Chicken Shawarma Recipe | MyRecipes.com
It was good, but I liked the falafel better.

I've tried falafel. It wasn't bad, but...meh. I'm lukewarm on it.

Oh no! I have let the dust build up in this thread.
Time to do some spring cleaning in the bakery.
TaiyoTsuki: ~ I would love it if we had a lot more variety of food in the area I live in.
Most of the restaurants are either Italian, Mexican, Chinese or Japaneses.
One place claims to be Greek, but most of the menu is the same as the Italian places.

For those with little cooking talent.
Here's an easy one for starters.
A piece of chicken per person. (Be careful handling raw chicken and wash everything that touches the raw chicken in hot soapy water and rinse well)
A medium tomato per person. If you don't like the skin of the tomato Blanch (Dip in boiling water 30 Seconds to a minute. the tomato will be hot. allow to cool and skin will come off easily.) and remove skin. Cut off top and bottom then cut in 2 equal slices.
One cup rice per person. Minute rice or rice made in a rice cooker/steamer is easiest.
prepare tomatoes
Pre-Cook chicken in microwave for 5-6minutes if thawed or 10 minutes if frozen.
Cook rice
While rice is cooking place chicken with tomatoes in oven pan or pie tin or foil (if you don't like clean up also good if cooking on grill or camp fire.) Add butter and or sprinkle your favorite seasonings. go lite on the seasonings as you can add more later for most herbs and salt based seasonings. Seal foil and bake or grill chicken until only clear liquid is coming out or cook until rice is done.
Place chicken and tomato over rice and serve or eat.
some seasonings I like are dry garlic, dry onion, ginger powder, soy souse, and powder chicken bullion. all of which have long shelf life and can be stored and where dry.

*groan* Good question. Some areas are just full of dumb people.
Take where I live, for example. Here, all kinds of foreign foods--chinese, greek, italian, french, english, middle-eastern, etc--is lumped under the "hispanic/mexican" category. Or, at least, that's what the local Wal-Fart does...

When I worked in Cally one of the guys invited us to his Ninas to eat. He brought some Old El Fartso canned Jalapenos. she took one look at them and asked why he bring rotten food to her table waving a ladle around like a club. she got one of her jars of pickled Jalapeño she made herself which were crisp and tasty not mushy and bland. both had hot going for them but hers where just better. She cooked real Mexican not something like Americans think as Mexican. I did even know thin that Old El Paso was a Pillsbury Company. Most American restraints don't do ethnic very well even when run by some one who should know the food.

I don't really trust recipes and Pinterest recipes. Honestly I don't even trust recipes that people tell me, especially if they've ever muttered "I love cake in a mug," or anything remotely similar to it.
