There are many types of mages, broken down into kinds and then their abilities. This little section will just be the different kinds of mages.

Firstly, there are the normal mages. These mages spend their days obeying the laws and are either in a monastery or are 'bought' by a lord or other higher up. They are under constant watch by the templars as they are not allowed to be out of their sight.

The second kind of mages are the apostates. These mages live outside of the monastery and while they practice 'normal' magic, they are still viewed as dangerous because of the fact that they are susceptible to demons.

The third kind are the maleficarum. Like apostates, they live outside of the monastery, but unlike them, they practice forbidden magic.

Many apostates and maleficarum find safety as shamans, alchemists, hermits, or among the elves seeing as they are already magical beings.

The leveling for mages is:
Apprentice - beginner mages that are still mastering their basic abilities, they may or may not have an ability tree yet, but could have a specialization
Mages - the second tier, they have begun learning and mastering all in their ability and specialization trees
Senior Mages - the elders, they have completely mastered their ability and specialization trees
First Enchanter - leader of the mages, in the monastery at least. Controls all the actions taken by mages; acts as their protector
