Welcome to the official avatar contest of the Festival of Winter Nights 2009!

There will be two categories this time around: Generic 'Holiday' avatars with holiday colors and themes, and a Holiday Cosplay category where you can show off your cosplays of Holiday-themed characters.

Hey guys! I'm Sizzla, and most of you have probably seen me around the forums at some point or another. I've hosted a few of the avatar contests during our events now, and it seems that this time I'm at it again. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful outfits!

Helpful hints from Sizzla:
I don't really have any particular hints this time around, but I hope to see some wonderfully layered, themed and color-coordinated avatars. :D Good luck, and have fun!


Hey folks:) You may have seen me on such shows as "Beavis and Butthead" and MTV's "Daria". Now, I make my happy little home here on Menewsha, bring sarcasm and humor to all it's good little girls and boys. I am hosting a Holiday Character contest this year. I am really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Helpful hints from Daria:
Be creative! Originality goes a long way with me. Above all else, have fun!

Rules

Read the rules and follow 'em. That's all I ask! XD Make sure you read them all too, because there may be something in the rules that's necessary for your entry... ;)

• First and foremost, make sure you follow the Site Rules.
• Be respectful! Constructive criticism is fine, but please don't be rude to other entrants.
  
• You can only enter once in each of the categories, and you may not enter on a mule account. If you do try to enter on a mule, we'll know, so just don't bother. XD
  
• Please be sure to use the entry form when you post your entry. Failure to post the form will result in your avatar not being entered into the contest.
• You may use your own inventory and the Menewsha Avatar Creator to make your outfits.
• Please be sure to save your entry to an outside image host like Photobucket or imageshack. What we see is what we'll judge, so be sure that the avatar you enter is saved and won't change.
• If you want to change your entry, you may edit your submission up until it is posted on the front page. Once it is posted on the front page, you'll have to PM Daria if you want to change anything.
  
• Entries must be submitted by 3 p.m. CST on January 1st. Winners will be announced in the Community Discussion forum shortly after the event ends.

Prizes

We'll choose first, second and third place winners in each of the categories. Other prizes might be added as the event goes on, depending on the amount of entries received.

Prizes are as follows:
First place: 5,000g
Second place: 3,000g
Third place: 1,000g

Holiday Outfit Category

Enter your avatar in this category if you are dressed up in holiday colors or have a generic holiday theme. Cosplays of holiday characters should go into Daria's category. :D

Holiday Character Costume Entry

Have you a desire to make a Santa avatar? Maybe you are feeling a little elfish? This is the contest for you! I am looking for holiday icon/character avatars in this contest. You can make a traditional costume avatar, or create your own! That's right, if your own holiday doesn't have it's own icon, you can simply make one up! It can be an icon for a holiday or even for the winter season. Perfectly matching avatars is not a requirement, but it won't count against you:) You can include a little explanation about your character (not required) but I will use whatever you put in your entry in the judging.

I think wintery avatars would work for Sizzla's contest...Probably not for mine...Unless you wanted to make a winter Icon...Like Frosty?

@Daria: Well, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I want to enter hers or yours. o.o Cause.. either one would work for a Winter Fairy/Goddess, right? o.o

i have a question. i am thinking of entering my avatar in to then contest but i don't know which one to put it in. i am calling it "winter bride", which one do i enter?

I don't see why you can't enter the same avatar into both. Just remember mine are suppose to be "Holiday" (or even winter) icons...So just add a blurb about why it would be an icon, etc. Mine is pretty loose for rules.
