"Clothes? Oh, right, clothes." The figure glowed for a second, then the light vanished to reveal she was wearing a short green dress that matched her hair. "I forget how you humans are about these things. But, well, I've never actually talked to one before. So you're my first. I suppose I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? My names is Roess." She hissed a little as she spoke her name, making the tail end sound a bit like the wind. "I'm a dryad."
"Well, that answers questions two and three. I'm Ella, by the way." Ella sat up again and regarded Roess with interest. "But I'd still like to know what you need me for."
Roess sat down facing Ella. "Well, like I said....I'm a bit lost. I was riding on a sylph, and, well...I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in a forest I'd never seen before. So I need you to help me find my way back. You will help me, right?"
"I'll try. You really shoudl have asked my father for help, though. He's the one who travels, not me."
"Maybe. But he wasn't here when I first found this place. Besides...I like you."
Ella blinked. "What does that mean?"
Roess shrugged. "I'm not really sure myself. I just...like you."
At that moment the city clock started ringing. Ella yawned, realizing it was midnight. "I'll do what I can, but I can't promise anything. For now, though, I need some sleep, it's been a long day. I, uh, don't suppose you could do something about all these apple cores tonight, could you?"
Roess blushed. "Right, sorry about that. As I said, I was hungry. I'll get rid of them, don't worry about it. Sleep well, Ella."
"Goodnight, Roess."
