Supper that evening was rather subdued. Ella did indeed get the potatoes, but rather than her father returning as planned, a messenger appeared at their door to let them know that Herman had been delayed unexpectedly, and would be returning late the next morning instead. Lady Sidney insisted on having a full table setting set out for him regardless, although she did save the good wine for his real return. Ella thought it was a waste of perfectly good food, but she had long ago learned that arguing with Sidney was a waste of perfectly good air and so said nothing. As her tastes in wine deviated considerably from her mother's though, she didn't mind having the 'good' bottle saved for a later meal.

"I don't see why he couldn't make it tonight," Tiffany whined. "Does he not love us enough to come back when he said he would?"

"Tiffany, love, I'm sure he did his best. Sometimes things just don't go according to plan." While she was obviously disappointed herself, Sidney, like Ella, had long ago learned to take such things in stride.

"But he said he'd be back! Tell her, Ella, shouldn't Daddy come home when he says he will?"

For once, Ella didn't have to pretend to agree with her foster mother. "If he could have I'm sure he would." She bit back he other comment, about how if she was coming home to such a spoiled brat of a daughter she'd never return. As much as she detested Tiffany, Ella did care for her father and wanted to see him home as soon as possible. And while Sidney did share many of her daughter's less desirable traits, she was enough of a lady that Ella could understand why her father had married her.

"At any rate, girls, if you're done with your desserts you may go to your rooms for the evening. Dylan, would you please clear this out for us? Oh, and don't forget to prepare your best dresses for tomorrow you two. You want to look nice for your father's return, don't you?"

Ella didn't think her father would care, but she agreed anyways. Tiffany remained silent, seemingly determined to make her feelings on Herman's delay known for the rest of the evening.

"Shall I toss Master's plate to the cats with the other scraps, Madam?" Dylan asked.

Sidney looked shocked. "Oh heaven's no. How could you think of tossing my husband's food to the animals? No, that treatment will not do at all."

Ella hastily left before she said something she would regret. Once she reached the safety of her room she knew she would be able to relax for the night.

But first, she had to prepare tomorrow's clothes. After kicking off her shoes--the wooden floor was remarkably comforting to her tired feet--she opened the armoire doors to choose her dress for Herman's return. And quickly closed them.

"That can't be right," she said to herself quietly. "There is not a tiny person in my armoire." For that was exactly what she had seen. Two feet tall, with a lithe female body and green hair far too short for any woman want to be seen in public with. "I must have had too much wine tonight. Yeah, that's it. I'll get my clothes ready in the morning when the wine has worn off. Yeah, that'll work. There can't really be a tiny naked person in my armoire. That's crazy"

Her mind was spinning more, not less, when she awoke the next morning to find her best outfit already laid out for her to put on.

Ella

Posted 05-28-2009 at 07:27 PM by Jayn Newell (Spirit-Touched)

"Don't forget to press those clothes, Ella dear."

"Yes, mother."

"And put out some food for the cats."

"Of course, mother."

"Oh, one more thing. Could you go to the market and buy some potatoes? Your father is coming home tonight and I want us to have a nice meal ready for him when he does."

"As soon as I'm done everything else, mother."

Ella picked up the bundle of clothes to be pressed and walked out of the room into the hallway. The manor wasn't large as such things go, but she had to admit that the taste of the architects was impeccable. The place had a majestic yet homey feel to it, and it wasn't as imposing as many of the other dwellings nearbv. While many of hte other places nearby had the usual statues of lions and dragons, her father's home had dolphins and birds. As much as Tiffany might insist that the house wasn't big enough for someone of her father's rank and status, Ella rather liked the place. It had style and class.

"Someday, I'd like to see a real dolphin," she mused to herself. Not that such a thing was likely to ever happen. A young lady like herself wasn't suited to traveling alone to Cebrelle, the nearest port city, and none of her suitors, few as they were, were the adventurous types. For as long as she could remember she had wanted to travel, but she would have to marry first and the men with such inclinations had higher aspirations for themselves than an adopted daughter. Instead they courted Tiffany, who had no such desires and who would frankly probably go insane after two days without her accustomed comforts. But she was the more desirable for a wife among those who wanted to make names for themselves.

Briefly, Ella entertained the notion of doing something to Tiffany's party dress while pressing it, but she quickly stamped that notion out. As appealing as the idea was, such an action would gain her nothing but trouble and in the end wouldn't be worth the effort.

WOW! Whata great day!

Posted 05-27-2009 at 06:27 PM by Hollywood

Today I logged onto mene with a larger than I remembered gold count, and a new PM.
Still bleary eyed from sleep, I clicked on my PM only to be notified that I have won Admins Pick this week!!!!

"Looking like a visiting warrior goddess from outer space, do you think she comes in peace? D: That sword's just ceremonial, right? Very nice looking outfit though, pretty colour combination, I like the use of the leg warmers to balance out the hair, and how many of the colours are reflected in other pieces; the jade on the shoulder guard and the teal of the bustier both complimenting the tones in the peacock tail(and the eyes), and the purple of the little shawl going nicely with the hairpin and the darkest colour in the middle of the feathers, and those little bits of black for some depth.

I also like how the stars from the galaxy are all contained within the curve of the moon, those two items work very well together

But mainly the appeal here is how the outfit has been worked around the shades that make up the tail, and to great effect, well done Hollywood ^^"

I am just THRILLED over this.... wow....I never thought I would be an Admins Pick!! Everyone who has ever won has had such a great avatar and I am just so happy to be displayed amongst them!

It's funny how something like this canmake you so happy and set the wheels in motion for a great day.

I have to give my cat a bath now, and I'm not excited about that.... but at least I have this!
Oh glorious day!

*sigh*
oh how you messed me up.
I get these senseless sudden moments when I just want to cry.
I can't function normally.. I took leave from school again for the rest of this semester a while ago.. I'm still doing anything I can to not fall behind but.. shit.
I don't know how long I can take this.
I hope I can work normally! if I can't there's no way we will have enough money to support ourselves.. :( and that would be bad.

I see dreams of you. I remember stupid stuff about you. Make me miss you even more. You stupid stupid a-hole. Look what you did.
:( is it really better now?
