So, I felt the need to rant/complain about Eurocom. Feel free to ignore. :insane: It was written in the form of a letter, so yeah. :B It seems a little awkward otherwise.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy was first released in 2003- FIVE YEARS AGO. On your forums, there have been several people very adamant about requesting the sequel to this amazing game deserves for two years now. Trouble is, we're loosing our steam. The last time anyone on the thread heard from a developer was just about a year ago, and that was just for them to say that they "Appreciate the support of a sequel, but there is no plans for Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy 2 to be made." If you allow cookies and Javascript on their site and vote at what your favorite out of their games are, you'll find that Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy tops the list of favorite games of Eurocom's.
I still love Sphinx. I still think he's the sweetest, hottest Demi-God in all of Egypt. But honestly? I'm starting to lose hope for there ever being a sequel. When I first finished Cursed Mummy, nearly two years ago, I was ECSTATIC. I spent days browsing the net to find even rumors of a sequel. There are none to be found. The way I see it is that if Eurocom was going to make a sequel for this game that is, in the opinion of myself and many other fans, better then many popular games, including Final Fantasy, they would have started thinking about it three years ago.
I imagine that we'll wait another five years for a sequel, if we ever get one. By that point in time, most of the honest fans of the game that were very dedicated to requesting said sequel - myself among them - will probably have left. The fans that have left the game will most likely look at Euro and LAUGH, saying "Heh. We asked for this ten years ago, and now you give this to us? This was delayed for games like SPYRO, and Harry Potter, even though years ago we liked this more then those? You guys have your priorities messed up. Go burn, we don't want this anymore."
I know that if I've left the game by that point, that's what I'll say.
Which will, honestly, make me sad. I love this game. Ancient Egypt is one of those ancient cultures that is special to me, and Sphinx is one of the few games that honors and compliments the ancient culture of Egypt, while at the same time being a fun fantasy game in it's own world. The PC game Pharaoh, a game where you are the Pharaoh of your own ancient Egyptian empire, wasn't as good as Sphinx. In a world where Ancient Egyptian games are far and few, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy took the concepts of the ancient race and added something just a little new. A Horus that was evil, a Tutankhamen that became a mummy and helped defeat Set, an Abydos that had electric eel infested waters, and more. It was a puzzle adventure game with breath-takingly beautiful graphics that seemed to merge endlessly with the characters, plot, story and stunning music. It was a game that rekindled my love for ancient Egypt and made me hunt down each and every god I encountered, wondering just what they were like and making my begin to enjoy history.
It was an amazing game that has now become last thought of and last places for games like Harry Potter and Spyro, games that will never be able to capture the hearts of Sphinx fans like Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy did. Fans that Euro will probably shortly loose forever.
I've said my twenty cents now. I've done my part to try and make Eurocom see the light. They do not want to comply with the pleas of the fans, fine. That's their problem, not ours. In a few years the Sphinx fanbase will be past their fan-prime, and in a few more we probably won't even care if Eurocom ever does make the sequel. We'll laugh, shoot a few 'We asked you then''s and 'We told you so''s they're way and move on with our lives. By that time in my life, I'll probably be enjoying another game in the Jak and Daxter series- a series that Naughty Dog has looked at and said "Well, people enjoy this series a lot. Let's see how we can expand on the Jak universe and still make them happy", something that Eurocom is failing to do.
I've now gone to my twenty-first cent, so I'll shut up and let you continue on with your lives. The last thing any of you probably want to listen to is the falling hopes of one out of many fans of an obscure game. :o
