Jaydin was born from a snake goddess and a human. His mother abandoned him and his seven brothers and sisters not too long after their birth. Their father tried to raise them for a time but he eventually couldn't handle taking care of them all. In the end, he fled with the most fragile of his children and left the others to fend for themselves.

And they were fine with this, for they were born for it. But although they knew they could take care of themselves, they loved their father and they missed him. They were meant to be left alone. but their human father couldn't leave them and stayed with them for so many years. Seven children, serpentine at that, would eventually be quite a burden for him. And they realized that. The last to be born from their mother was weak in constitution and they were grateful that their father took the youngest of them all. They believed that this was the way it had to be.

Jaydin was one of the most mature yet stubborn of his siblings. For a time he looked after his brothers and sisters, but they soon wanted to explore the world they were born into. Reluctantly, he understood this and, one by one, his kin began to part from him, eager to traverse their part of this world. He worried for them and prayed for them but he would not bring himself to stop them. Eventually, he was the only one left in the home they were brought up in.

Others would notice a strange serpentine child living all alone in a darkly lit house. They soon grew unreasonably frightened of him and his solitary ways. They were so afraid that the town council decided that he should go to an orphanage. And he was fine with that. He didn't mind at all. At first, all the other children were scared of him, just as the rest of the townspeople were. But as time went by and the children got to know Jaydin, they realized how caring he was. For the children had brought back the brotherly side of him that he had lost living alone. He enjoyed this new family he had acquired but he never forgot his true home and family.

When he became of age to be allowed to leave the orphanage, he said goodbye to his orphan brothers and sisters. He felt the urge that his siblings had felt before him. But unlike them, he felt the urge to find his siblings, as well as his parents. He knew that he missed them and felt pathetic feeling so.

His search for one of his siblings soon lead him to an island off the west coast of the mainland. It was there that he happened upon an enigmatic village that attracted his attention. He felt he belonged there. Even though he felt the urge to search for his family, something told him that he needed to be there. So he decided to stay till he felt he could continue his search.
