Something to do 1

If the pain in our hearts is from when something touched us, such as a loved one or an action, how long does the pain last. Does it give us strength? I know I use the pain as a way of telling myself I am still alive. Otherwise I try to be numb. I wish I could be truly numb at times but then I realize how horrible it would be to be numb. Never know how it felt to be alive. Being Alive isn't going out and doing something amazing. Like some of my friends do. Its feeling enough want and other emotions to do that amazing thing. Such as protect a loved one or help someone. So again I ask Just how long does the pain last?
