1984

New book! New book! It's the classic that was in the news recently. But I didn't get the connection because I don't remember this book. It's by George Orwell. Sometimes you'll hear them say Orwellian. This book has something to do with big brother watching you.

It's starting out ok. Society is set in 1984. They have some kind of opposite world. Like the ministry of peace is about war. Think I'm going to need a cliff notes thing after.

Lil wet tonight. Soup du jour was beef barley. Then I got out the chips and started reading. Oh, yeah. Books good. Their society is totally regimented. Kind of reminds me of north Korea. You're not supposed to even think contrary things. It's a crime punished by death. And they erase any criminals past. You did not exist. Wow. There is no record of history, just what They want you to know. Reminds me of this talk about fake news.

This kind of reminds me of the Amish. Photographs are not permitted. There will be no family photos. I wonder if they speak of ancestors like grandparents. Or if they've past, that's it. When some Amish girls were kidnapped, they had to bring in a sketch artist, because the family had no pictures of the girls!

There was a to do with united airlines today. A couple girls were wearing leggings which the airline deemed unsuitable. They had to put on a dress or get off. Immediately opposition started. No one likes to respect authority. Their parents, cops, government. Yet who is truly right? Everyone wants to be boss? There's problems in 1984 concerning kids. The kids idolize the government. They play act at it. They also turn in their parents for rebellious talk. The parents are afraid of their kids. I remember not liking being spanked. I wonder if this was my situation today and I knew about social services would I turn my mom in? Should they put Prozac in the water? How do you diffuse anger? Everyone has anger but you can't exhibit it. This is unnatural. My friend said the Mormons in Utah are highly regimented, but they take it out in their driving. You could go for a run. Kids are sent for time out for bad behavior. Where are adults sent? Is this why there are so many divorces? We don't know how to communicate?

Now my hairs wet and cold. Its a kind of bingey evening. Rats. A-teams on. So noisy. The books reminding me of, the prisoner. With...argh. What's his name? Its a British show. Very strange. Another odd society where folks are known by numbers. I think I need to revisit it. I love how a book can lead me down a new path. So much more fulfilling than that last book which I'll give a C-.
