Well, the book is really good. There's 6 parts. I've read the first. What a concept! This girl in a coma. But she can hear! And think! She's sarcastic, at times. She thinks the range of a humans emotions. Just can't move.
She gets visitors. A catholic nun, her family, roommate, ex bf, doctors, her soldier bro on Skype. The police are investigating the accident. The detective takes to dropping by with his lunch to tell her updates. She starts to ponder the folks who stop by. Now remember, she's lying there with her eyes closed. But strangely, folks talk to her. They have been told she may be able to hear her.
I was thinking its similar to how folks like to unburden themselves to pets. Even talk to plants. But I never thought of a coma patient. A volunteer comes by to read her poems. She enjoys that. It's just so interesting how her experience is. She can't feel or move her body. But she can smell, appreciate kindness. She's a virtual participant in life.
I thought, why was this book topic never introduced before. How did author think of it? Well, when she was 10, a teacher told how she had been in a coma once and could hear folks. Ah! Real life experience. Bingo!
