Callum & Aedonis and Tahl

Callum & Aedonis and Tahl

Posted 10-07-2009 at 01:58 AM by emeraldeye
Name: Callum

Nickname: Cal

Sex: Male

Age: 20

Species: Human

Hair: long brown that shines an aurbern, bronze colour in the sun and is usually pulled back into a loose pony tail. A white streak growing from an old scar

Eyes: dark blue

Fears: Putting his life on the line without a guarentee of payment.

Ambitions: no real ambitions, though he does hope to serve a good king someday but knows it will never happen. He just goes through life as it is.

Strengths: - very good with a sword, not that he's bosting
- pretty decent brawler because of lots of practice
- card gambling, one of the only ways he can make a living.
- can usually tell who would be a good person to work for in advance.

Weaknesses: - absolutely hopeless with a bow or any type of maskmanship.
- is afraid of healers, he belives that they use black magic.
- very superstitious

Equipment: - a rather plain sword but nonetheless good quality
- a little money left from gambling
- a knife on his belt, though he has never used it in a fight before

Past: Callum wound acting as a mercenary after a blow to the head years ago in a war took all his memories and left a white streak growing from the scar now there. That happened six years ago when he was an ambitious youth. He knows better know, however, and instead hires himself out as a mercenary to the highest bidder, but of those he chooses who he goes with. While not acting as a mercenary he goes from town to town gambling what's left of his money to make a profit and spend on getting drunk nearly every night and on women.

Present: Trying to outrun a gambling debt, Callum ran his horse to the ground and consequently has no such transport anymore. Stuck in Lennox with money quickly running out, he is in desperate need of employment once more.

Name: Aedonis (Ay-don-is)

Nickname:

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Species: Human

Hair: Brown, shines a golden colour in the sunlight, though, long and kept in a thick braid over her shoulder when traveling, though she will let it out when she has to act like a lady.

Eyes: Blue, with milky-white pupils

Skin: fair

Fears: being locked in a silent room

Ambitions: to travel and experience the world and it's peoples

Strengths: - Swordsmanship (duel wield)
- Extremely Keen senses
- Smooth talker (can often talk her way out of any situation, however her witty comments are often what get her in those situations in the first place). This includes noble ettiquette as this is the remains of her mother's teachings.
- Hand-to-Hand fighting (body manipulation, not brawling

Weaknesses: - Blind, relies on her slave Tahl to tell her of what things look like, though she would never admit to relying on anyone but herself.
- Hates acting as a noblewoman, as much due to her father's teachings than anything.

Equipment: -Two swords, a katana and wakisashi, attatched to a leather sword belt that is either around her waist, or behind her on the saddle of the horse.
-an ankle length skirt, buttoned down the front and dark blue in colour
-a long tunic, dark green and trimmed in blue, that is belted at the waist with a cloth belt.
-Practical hiking boots
-leather riding gloves
-a dagger at her belt, not to fight with, just to aid with eating
-one saddle bag holding a writing board, paper and utensils
-the other saddle bag holding a cloak and blanked and flint and tinder

Extras: - Tahl accompanies her everywhere and is much as her eyes as her friend.
-She was given a highly trained horse for her birthday named Aranol who will avoid obstacles without being told

Past: Aedonis was born the youngest of two girls in a noble house and a father, who always wanted sons, raised her like a boy, even as her mother tried to counter these teachings with her own ettiquete teachings. Thus she is a skilled fighter and still retains some of her feminine charm. However when she was very young, she wandered out into the forest alone and something (haven't decided what yet) attacted her. She survived, but the beast or person or whatever, took her sight. Consequently, while she still has her eyes, there are long scars running accross her face over them which are not pretty to look at. Thus she wears a strip of cloth over her eyes. This also destroyed her mother's hopes of marrying her off (much to Aedonis's delight) and she worked even harder at what her father taught her, still learning how to fight but using her ears and to some extent her sense of touch to do so. She still continued learning ettiquete from her mother so she would be able attend at family functions but she never had to suffer the attentions of men as her sister did (except for the fact that her sister enjoyed it). When she was fifteen, she went to the market with her father and, passing the slave market, had heard a lash raining down on someone. Letting go of her father's arm, she stormed up to where she heard the sound and demanded to know what the victim had done. The slave master had replied that he was a theif and an escapee, recently recaptured and Aedonis, not believing that this was sufficient reason, had bought the slave outright to save his back. It was then she found out that the slave was only ten years old at the time, and near death from the beatings. She took him home and nursed him herself, using her gentle hands to tell where the wounds were and since then he, Tahl, was her loyal servant and best friend.
When she turned twenty, her father presented her with two fresh-out-of-the-forge swords, each with a hawk ensribed on the blade near the hilt. These gifts given she was free to leave on her own if she wished and, of course, she did, Tahl accompaning her as always (just shy of his seventeenth birthday).

Present: Aedonis sharp tongue and quick wit has been noticed by those who's oppinions count and as such she has been sent on a diplomatic mission from the king.

Name: Tahl (Tarl)

Nickname:

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Species: Human

Hair: Black as the midnight sky

Eyes: Dark brown so as to be almost black

Skin: olive

Fears: becoming a slave once more, anything happening to Aedonis that may lead to this fate

Ambitions: to travel and see the world with Aedonis and to make her life easier as she did for him.

Personality: Around other people, Tahl is quiet and concientious, everything a well trained servant should be, despite what he is often thinking. When he is alone with Aedonis, however, he is not affraid to speak his mind and is actually quite talkative. Tahl is a little bit self conscious of the scars he bears from his slavery and often will only reveal them in the company of Aedonis. It takes a fair amount of trust between him and someone else for him to willingingly show them.

Strengths: -Twin daggers one of the servants taught him to use
-horsemanship
-looking after Aedonis without it seeming so
-still retains some of his thieving skills

Weaknesses: - Because of his own history in slavery, he doesn't like to see any servant mistreated. He is by no means against the servant class (though he is against slaves) as he sees the necessity of them. But this does lead to him acting rather rashly at times to make things right as he sees it. (this is not nesicarily a weakness however)

Equipment: -Twin daggers, one on each hip which he is never without despite common curtisies.
-black pants that are of relatively good quality (excellent compared to most servants/slaves, but then Aedonis doesn't see him that way)
-a long tunic, dark blue
-Soft knee-high boots that are wrapped around with leather straps to hold them up
-leather riding gloves
-a bag holding cloak, blanket, food, and, without Aedonis knowing, a tool roll holding items like picklocks and wires.

Past: Tahl was sold into slavery at a very young age and, while he didn't remember freedom, he dreamed of it. One day, after having enough of slavery, he had killed his master and attempted to escape (he was only ten at the time) but he was caught by the family and, not wanting a murdering slave, they sold him back to the slave merchants, beaten within inches of his life. He was there a while as no one wanted to buy a slave who was known to kill his masters, no matter how young he was, and he met a nice woman, also a slave, who had tended to his injuries. When she was sold (he guessed as a sex slave but had no proof of the matter) he had stolen some supplies and attempted to escape once more. Once again he was captured and beaten and probably would have been killed if Aedonis had not interfered. Not having the strength to resist him being sold once more, he was forced to go with his new masters. However when they were only kind to him (except perhaps the women of the household, the mother and eldest sister, but still he was never beaten again) he eventually grew to like his position here and found his niche helping the blind Aedonis get through life.
Aedonis and Tahl grew to be very close friends and Tahl left with his mistress as soon as she left, even though she hates being called such.
Now Tahl must, as well as his usual duties of simply making Aedonis's life easier, must hide his growing feelings for the woman. There is no way a slave, no matter how friendly, would be able to have any sort of relationship with his mistress.

Present: Tahl is currently, as always, following Aedonis and helping discretely where he could. He is also struggling to control his jealousy as another man claims Aedonis's attentions.
