Kirari & Rai

Name: Kirari aka Kiyotaka

Nickname: Ki

Gender: Female

Age: 19 but passes as a 16 year old

Appearance: Black well kept hair that is about chest length and always pulled back into a pony-tail.
Hazel eyes.
Shorter than most guys but tall for a girl. She dresses as a man in order to be a member of the Shinsengumi. Wears the hakamas of a swordsman and, when off duty, just a plain off-white kimono but when on duty she, of course, wears the bright blue and white kimono.

Fears: To be discovered. If that were to happen, she knew, she would be forced to commit seppuku.

Ambitions:

Personality: A relatively happy person, she can be taken to moods of depression, however. When she draws her sword, however, she intends it to draw blood. If she doesn't intend to draw blood she never draws it.

Strengths: Swordsmanship: She is extremely adept at her swordsmanship and it has gained her quite a reputation.

Weaknesses: ??? - could change, undecided yet
Her love for one of the members of the Shinsengumi.

Past: For many years Kirari lived with her elder brother. She didn't remember her parents and her brother refused to speak of them. Her brother had hired out his sword for petty jobs, mostly just uneventful escorts in order to feed the two of them. Kirari had just tagged along most of the times, except when he believed it was too dangerous, then she would be forced to stay behind. During this time, her brother taught her swordsmanship skills in order to defend herself while her brother was away. It was one of the times she was told to stay behind that he didn't come back. She had recieved no word from the one's who had hired him but it soon became obvious that he wasn't coming back. She had continued training with the sword by herself.
One day during one of the few times when she was in town, she was asked by a woman of noble birth to escort her somewhere for coin. Naturally Kirari agreed. At this stage she wasn't hiding her sex, however the woman (and thus Kirari) was attacked on the journey by two men. Kirari killed one and was called a demon boy by the other before he fled. She figured it was because of the masculine way she dressed, and she wasn't exactly clean. Thus she started taking on the identity of a guy and started hiring out like her brother was.
Her reputation as a fierce swordsman spread, but along with her famous sword skills was her famous modesty. It became known that the ronin known only as Kiyotaka was very shy when it came to bathing and the like and would only do so in private or not at all.
Word of her skills spread to the shinsengumi and, interested, requested if she would be interested in joining. Seeing a chance for food and shelter she took up the offer and has been working there since.

Present: She has been threatened into killing someone named Shugeru by a mysterious stranger on threat that her best friend and secret lover would be killed.

Character Name: Kusunoki, Rai
Age: 17
Personality: Quiet and somewhat cold towards his fellow humans. He likes to be alone and gets agitated, though he rarely shows it, just goes off without a word, when too many people are either around him or just annoying him. When someone triggers him, he tends to go a little crazy but still while keeping that cold demeanor.
Orientation: gay
Seme/uke/seke: uke
Status: unbalanced
Bio: Rai was just a normal teenager, or as normal as one often is when shipped from foster family to foster family because none of them could deal with his ADD. However, unlike most people who have been 'diagnosed' with ADD, Rai didn't bring attention to himself, he just had a very VERY short attention span, well short for what most people would consider important. He would be sent to school and would randomly get up and walk out of class, not in any disturbing way, just as if he had every right to do so. They bored him and the people annoyed him. On his own, however, the little things hold his attention for a long time, things such as how the tree waves in the wind, ant lines and the way the sun shines through branches. He just had no interest in monetary values and his future and least of all school and his family, whatever one he was with at the time. While most found his personality irritating, none found him dangerous.
Rai, however, has killed twice. The first time went undetected. He happpened to be walking along the street and he saw a man kicking a dog, so he went over and started kicking the man. Naturally, unlike the dog, the man fought back, but he was able to get him to the ground unconcious and kick him to death. This happened on the back streets and so no one knew what had happened until he was long gone and blamless.
The second time he had been caught. He had seen a little kid, probably no more than three, trying to make his pet hampster run up the brick wall, but only succeeding in scrapping the animals skin off on the wall. Enraged once more, Rai slammed the kids head into the brick wall and started rubbing it up and down it. The kid didn't die, but by the time Rai had been pulled off him, the skin had gone away to the bone. All through both these revenge attacks he had kept the same cool face, not showing any emotion or remorse at what he did. It was because of the kid that he was sent to the island.

Rai is what is often described as a pretty-boy; he doesn't have the scruffness that most guys his age gain and like, infact he hates it. He is always clean shaven and his hair is relatively long and jet black, almost blue black. His eyes are hazel with flecks of gold in them. They are the only thing that really shows any emotion at all.
