We Call It Writing
Blog entry 1

Heya, this is my first entry, but it will not be my last.
Of course, everyone at first has to start somewhere, after all, even Thomas Edison didn't simply wake up on day and think :idea: Idea! :idea: Light bulb!
Because that would've been a little repetitive.
No, he had to start somewhere too, he began working on this :idea: :idea: somewhere in the 1870's! And on October 21, 1879 viola! His :idea: was completed!
Yes siree, through much hard work, getting fired a lot, and many accidents, he prevailed to become a pioneer of incandescent electric lighting.
And you have to say the italicized font in a James Earl Jones type of a voice, with a drum roll or trumpeters in the background.
Although, Thomas Edison, sadly, wouldn't be able to hear you. He was partially deaf. Poor sad dead old man. :(

:offtopic:

Oh well!
Moving on to less depressing news~ :sweat:
My blog, named We Call It Writing creatively, has began!
And my fine fellows, who am I? :D
I...am a mystery. For now. Mostly I'm just saying that because I'm too distracted at the moment to tell you details on my life.

For instance, something that bugs me about fanfiction. Fanfiction.net? Home to crappy writing and mary-sues galore?
I imagine you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, look it up. :talk2hand:
But have you noticed, a lot of the crap, new girl goes to [witty (or un-witty, usually) name relating to fandom] high school, starts with the character introducing themselves to the class?
First up, I have transferred to a few different schools in my life time. One, one school teacher told me to introduce myself. It was third grade.
Third grade!
And I had said [in a little British accent];
"Hi, I'm [insert my name here], I'm British, and I like cats."
And I ended it there. I didn't say;
"Hi, I'm [insert my name here], I was born in Russia to my mother who loved me very much, but she died in child birth, and then my father hated me and now he's an alcoholic who abuses me and we moved here because we got a new job and I work day and night to pay for my school. I also like cats, because when I was four one saved me from a fire." *
No. I didn't say that, one) because it's not true, of course, and two) because honestly! Who introduces themselves with their family history and tragic events that occurred in their lives? The authors do it to mary-sues and characters who need a background of suffering, for some odd reason. And of course, the reaction is.
Random hot guy says; "Oh, my past is as bad as hers, I have just fallen madly in love with her, not to mention she's also very physically attractive!"
Or, random hot guy says; "Wow, her past sucks, I've never had to endure anything like that in my life, I want to heal all her emotional and physical wounds and protect this person I hardly know from any more harm because she's a great person and also very physically attractive to me."
And then, random ugly popular girl** says; "Wow, her past sucks, but she's prettier than me, so I all of a sudden hate her because I'm so shallow and jealous. Not to mention the boy I fangirl is looking at her and thinking she's attractive! I have to make her life worse than it already is!"
Basically, that's the response she gets for her speech. Instead of what really would happen...
"Hi, I'm [insert my name here], I was born in Russia to my mother who loved me very much, but she died in child birth, and then my father hated me and now he's an alcoholic who abuses me and we moved here because we got a new job and I work day and night to pay for my school. I also like cats, because when I was four one saved me from a fire." ***
Awkward silence ensues....
Random boy; "That was weird."
Random girl; "A little. I kind of feel bad."
Random boy; "Do you thinks it's all true? It sounds a bit far-fetched..."

:sarcasm:

People don't introduce themselves like that, and shouldn't! People who want to get to know them, should do it on their own accord!
But the authors of these fanfictions want to get to the 'interesting' overly-dramatic stuff, so their train of thought is to just get it all up in the air, and then forget about it, and maybe bring it up later as a plot twist, omg.

So yeah. I think that about settles my rant for today, and concludes the first entry of We Call It Writing. Thanks for reading!
