So today I randomly decided to go back onto another site I use to roleplay on and happened upon my page of old roleplay characters. When I look back on them and compare them to my current roleplay characters and the descriptions of them I can help but be floored by the complete difference of them.
I know of course there's people on this site that have been a bit...astonished by the length of my bios now, but I can promise it's nothing compared what one of my old ones in particular was. I actually pmed it to a friend today to look over and it took 5 total pms for me to send the entire thing. On here I know that it has only ever taken me no more than 2-3 pms maximum to send in a bio, though my usual number nowadays is one pm.
I'm not really sure what exactly had changed from then to now. Maybe I just felt that some of the information I use to give about my characters, simply wasn't needed anymore. I know that there are spots for such information to be implicated in, even if there is no direct place for them in the skeletons, but I've mainly chosen to leave it out.
It's not as if I use any of this left out information to become twists in my characters, at least not typically. For example in one of my past bios I put the blood type of my character. Now however, when I create a bio I usually leave that information out, unless it's in the actual skeleton itself and almost never use it as a twist.
Maybe I'm having mercy on people now so that they don't have to sift through all of the unnecessary information. Granted some people may claim that some of the information I put about my characters are still unnecessary, although with that I don't always agree. Yes sometimes I do put in some information that perhaps doesn't need to be known, but what roleplayer doesn't really?
Isn't the history of our characters typically irrelevant to the present time of the roleplay, and something that can't be unfolded within the roleplay itself? The answer is yes, but regardless we still put this information in. That of course is a completely different topic altogether.
I think I may post my past roleplay characters here, and pray that no one forces others to go through the hell of creating a bio the same length as one of mine in particular. I'm sure if you choose to read it, you'll understand quite well what I mean by that.
