So i started writing when i was in the 8th grade. We had to do a bunch of poems for school so i was kinda forced into them but once i started writing i loved it!
At first i mostly wrote poems but then when i went into higher grades we started writing short stories. At first i would gripe because i had to do what someone else said but then i started taking it as a challenge, seeing how i could do what they wanted, and what i wanted. One of my favorite short stories came about that way.
Towards the end of high school is when my book writing took off. We had to read Frankenstein and when i heard the woman who wrote that was only 18 it inspired me to want to write something that good. So i started writing. I have 3 books from that time but none of them are good enough for publishing. Back then i wrote to get out what i felt more so than to make a good piece so everything from back then is very high school drama.
After high school, when real life started, work and college, i gave up on writing pretty much. I write a poem here and there, occasionally do a chapter from a book, write a short story but not like i used to.
But i still enjoy it because there's just something in the thrill of being in control of what happens or finding that perfect word/line that keeps you going, gives you a little more life inside. Whenever I'm in a bad mood my boyfriend always tells me "go write something".
He doesn't write, doesn't really even read my stuff, but he knows there's just something about it that puts me in a better mood, no matter what.
