On a roll.

Posted 06-05-2008 at 07:21 AM by Seiki Nova (Seiki's Musings)

I've just been on a roll today like it's no one's business. I woke up, cleaned the house, showered, went to two job interviews, bought a new down for the summer, went to Barnes and Noble, read for about 6 hours, made dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, checked my email, and now I'm on to post this blog. I have a few pages of my book left to finish up before I go to bed, but I felt that I should at least report on my day.

Both of my interviews were very straight-forward. The first, for BJ's Brewary required that I have a food handler's card for a host position, so I have to get that, and the second for McDonald's wouldn't give me a proper interview because I didn't have a food handler's card as well, but they explained the position, told me how training would work because I'd be going to work at a new location if I were to be hired there, etc. So I'm going to get my food handler's card tomorrow along with my list of other things to do.

Things to do for Thursday, 6/5/08.

Wake up.
Shower.
Change.
Call back Kohl's to set up interview.
Go to my school to look at tuition things.
Visit a friend's new apartment.
Go grocery shopping.
Start a new book.
Make Dinner.
Read some more.
Call my grandmother.
Drop off my brother at his girlfriend's house in the morning, and then proceed to pick him up in the evening.
Feed the dogs.
Clean my car.
Clean my room.
Go to an interview for Michael's.
Try and find time to come online to check on things.
Work out a plan for somehow going to the movies.
Buy a night light to ease my fear of the dark.
Lunch with Melissa and Steven.
Clothes shopping with Melissa for some wedding she has to go to.

Not in that order of course. We'll see how much I get done though haha. It'll be interesting to see if I can squeeze all that into my day tomorrow. And hopefully nothing else comes up that I also have to do. We'll see.

Oh lawd is the 50% Store-shop-thread addictive. )`= And now I have so many outfits I can't choose! D= OH NO. But currently I have on my deliciously ubiquitous 'red mage' outfit. 8') ...and I'm a guy right now because I'm lazy orz

Seriously, there went all my savings. )= I KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING; I'm pleased with what I bought b-but god um... 12k was it? Gone in an instant. xD; I COULD HAVE BOUGHT CIs!!1

--Except NOT because nobody is selling the gd things. =\

Final Mene-related tidbit;; I've been working HARDCORE on a piece of art of my avatar. |D;; In Paint orz. IT'S SOCUTE RLY!! ...I might as well refine this 'bad' habit. It's kind of like pixeling/vector art(?) idk. Get Adobe Illustrator? SOMETHING THAT HAS LAYERS AND PIXELS AT LEAST )8

I love that medium paintbrush though~ ;A;a So addicting.

OKAY AND I SWEAR I'll post it when I'm all done~. ((Except. The damn pattern on the dress is making me not wanna work on it orz.)) And then I can draw this new avatar/oufit! Hooray~.

And now I need to sleep. Ugh.

Where will music be in the next 10-20 years?

Posted 06-05-2008 at 04:17 AM by ElendarSilvermoon

This question was asked on another forum and it got me thinking a bit.

I honestly have no clue where music will be in the next decade or two, but hopefully it will be somewhere good. I think we'll see a surge in people doing things independently. Trent Reznor's already started doing it, and more times than not some random band on Soundclick is better than anything you'll hear on a radio station. So it seems like music is going to go independent.

Stylistically, I'd like to see an end put to the endless sludge of trendy novelty bands. No more Soulja Boys or J-Kwons or Fall Out Boys or My Chemical Romances, this type of music needs to make way for people who are actually doing something worth listening to.

As far as genres go, I don't really care as long as the music is good. All we need to do is begin weeding out the cream from the crap in the music industry.

So what do you think will happen with music in the next 10-20 years?

Some of my favorite sites -- that aren't avatar sites. XP

So despite what everyone may think, I do visit sites outside of avatar sites. :XP Though yes, I do spend most of my time on Menewsha and Gaia (and have accounts on -many- other sites), occasionally I 'get out' on the Internet.

So here are some of my favorite websites, in a variety of genres.

• EZTV
EZTV is -the shit-. Okay, I tend to miss TV shows a lot when they're actually on, and being a cheapass and not wanting to invest in hardcore cable (with a DVR), I download most of my TV. This site has pretty much everything you want to see (and though it's mostly an American site, I've watched a couple of shows from the UK as well) and more.

• Gaijin Smash
You know, I've never really gotten into reading blogs. I've tried. I manage to read my best friend's blog, as well as a couple of other friend's blogs on myspace. Maybe three total. That's it.

So when I found one that made me laugh out loud on a regular basis, I couldn't stop reading. Az, the writer of Gaijin Smash, is an American living in Japan. A JET-alum, he went to Japan several years ago to teach English to rowdy Japanese preteens (middle schoolers). Once his job with JET was over, he stayed in Japan and got an office job -- and a hilarious one at that. I guess you'll have to read the site to find out.

I recommend going back and reading from the beginning of the blog. It's worth every minute you have to read. Srsly.

• Wajas
Dude, I'm totally a geek. If it wasn't geeky enough that I play on avatar sites at the age of 26, playing on Wajas makes me a turbo-geek.

It's a breeding site where you collect and breed wolf-like creatures that look like these: CLICK HERE!

It's something fun to do in my spare time, as I like breeding brightly-colored, obnoxious Wajas, just for my own amusement. I dunno. Everyone makes fun of me and Eroy for playing on this site, but there's just something about it.

Currently, public registrations are down, but if you're interested, PM me with your email address and I'll send you an invite so that you can make an account. :)

• Crunchyroll
I like Asian dramas. A lot. This site has a ton of them, streaming. :D It's awesome. I do like downloading my episodes normally, but if I'm not sure I'll like something, I'll watch some episodes here first. Plus, they've got forums and stuff too, so it's an all-around good site.
