He was walking slowly along the brownish, murky streets of the town he currently found himself in. A black cloak draped over his lean form, covering his pale skin and shadowing the dull, golden eyes that spoke volumes of what he was. Long, whitish fingers were covered by the many folds of his cloak as his slow but purposeful steps made the fabric sway to and fro.
Pausing in his stride, he looked up towards the sky for a quick moment. Clouds hovered over the town like messy smudges of charcoal and cigar ash. He could feel the heavy dampness in the air, the drop in temperature that was similar to the feeling of his skin.
It was going to rain.
Yet he didn't matter to him if it did. He could not get sick like humans or the lesser creatures could. It was like he couldn't feel anything at all. Emotions and the concept of 'feeling' were certainly dead to him, weren't they?
A tired smirk pulled at the fleshy lips that were his mouth as a thought occurred to him
Was he the 'dead' walking? Maybe; after all, he felt dead. He was one of Felingard's vampires, after all.
---
She was running as fast as she could, her swift legs propelling her in a speed that made her eyes near water. Her halfling blood pumped through her veins as she weaved through alleyways, between homes and past various buildings that were dimly late during the late hour.
Now was her chance, to try and be free. The life of slavery would end on this night. No longer would she take anyone else' orders but her own. She could still hear their clamoring footsteps and yells as they followed her. They would not drag her back to that lifestyle again.
Throwing herself between two buildings, she burst out into the other side. She saw the person too late as she plowed herself into their side, throwing them both against the street and into the shadows of the opposite buildings in which he was walking past.
---
He heard everything since they were running several blocks away, but chose to ignore them. It was none of this business. But his ignorance was rewarded with confrontation as he heard the person scuffle past the brick siding of two buildings before a body dug into his side, knocking them both backwards a few feet.
He gasped in pain and by reflex, propped himself up from the cold ground and pulled a hand back to scratch at whomever had attacked him.
However, when he saw the crudely cut mass of mossy green hair and wide, frightened white eyes, his hand froze in mid-air. White fingers were arched with gleaming nails that would have slashed her deeply had he not stayed his hand. Shot bursts of her breath made pale puffs in the cool air as the young girl shakily pushed herself up onto an elbow as well.
Her head raised up slowly to show her face and their eyes met. Both of them stiffened from the surprise that was each other.
---
She felt her lungs freeze as she stared into surprised, golden eyes surrounded by pale skin.
'A creature of the night!' she thought in numb surprise, her eyes trailed past his face up to the raised arm that seemed to be suspended in the air. As if sensing what she was looking at, he ever so slowly lowered his limb back to his side. For some reason, she could sense he meant no harm for he was as surprised as she was.
Gulping what little saliva was in her dry mouth, she moved away from him and bowed her head nearly all the way to the road. Her training took over as she clenched her eyes shut.
"I'm so sorry, sir. Please excuse my abrupt appearance. You are not hurt?"
---
The surprise at being knocked backwards gave way to instinctual manners that were second nature to him.
'Manners are everything. You had best remember that.' a voice from his past echoed in his mind at that moment. Getting to his feet, he reached gently for the girl's arm and pulled her to stand up in front of him.
"I am fine and it seems we will walk away from this meeting uninjured." he murmured down to her bowed head, then stepped away to give her space. They were strangers but he would act accordingly.
-----
Biting her lip as she was now standing, the girl took in a large breath then raised her head again. The light patters of the shower to come began to drizzle around them as she looked up at the vampire that was before her. He wasn't like the ones she was told about, constantly hungry and pounced on whomever was an easy meal.
No, this one was polite and acted like a gentleman.
Her gaze never left his face for it was if she was in a trance. Her one hand reached into the side pocket of her dress and pulled out a green sweet, offering it to him. Licking her lips, she gave him a weak smile.
"Sorry for knocking you down. Please take it, I will take a no as an insult."
She watched as he slowly took the candy from her hand with the one he nearly slashed her with and proceeded to stare it. His other hand pulled back his hood to reveal shoulder length, black hair which seemed to caress his shoulders at his gesture. Several stray strands fell in front of his face to cover his cheeks and nose.
----------
He took a good look at the small sweet before staring back, her face a look of almost wonder. He smiled slightly.
"I do not deserve this, but you would be offended either way."
Glancing at the chocolate again, he made up his mind and offered it back. "However, you look like you may need it more than I ever could."
'If only I could eat it though...'
--------------
She was still staring at him and did not notice the offered sweet. All she could do was stare, her mind have narrowed the world down to the presence of the manly creature before her. Her limbs moved on their own as she stepped closer, her fingers reaching for the skin of his face that his midnight hair brushed against so freely. Her lips and voice moved of their own accord, at least it felt like it.
"My name is Seph," she murmured, her fingers nearly touching his face,"who are you?"
He seemed to stiffen as she nearly touched him but did not move. He had control over his body and would use it.
"I am...Alcure?" he answered, yet it sounded as if he wasn't sure of the name. He wasn't so confident in his answer, but then again this conversation was just as confusing as he felt about who he was himself.
------------------------
Seph then realized she was nearly going to press the pads of her fingers against his face and how still he seemed to be that she pulled her hand back. He probably wasn't used to being touched, much less out of the nowhere like that. Then she remembered why she was all the way out here, the now droplets of rain growing harder as it began to pour. Her attention got so swallowed up by this man that she completely forgotten about those who she was running from.
She pulled her hands back and stepped away from him, an apologetic look covered her features.
"Forgive me Alcure, I didn't mean t-"
"There!" one of the voices of her pursuers yelled out. It seemed she was finally spotted, although she must of gained some time from squeezing between those two buildings. But now her time was up and she needed to run again.
She lunged towards Alcure, pressing his still offered hand against his belly as she tugged his hood back over his head, several damp strands of his hair sticking to the wet skin of her wrists. She would not get him involved.
Leaning closer, she whispered a farewell then pushed him down to the road again as others began to appear. Running, she hoped to gain some distance again. Now she was desperate!
------------------
Alcure became aware of the other presences as she tried to apologize to him. His head snapped up to see various people run towards them, all their eyes on Seph in front of him. He was about to say something when she jerked his hood over his eyes, cutting him off.
He heard her rushed good bye, just barely noticing the soft glance she gave him before he felt himself falling once more. He didn't fight when it all made sense to him. She was trying to protect him as she escaped. He picked out various things being yelled like "slave", "return and "reward" as he froze when a few ran past him.
The candy was still pressing against the palm of his hand. He looked at the sweet once more, knowing it was still there since it could not melt from his cold touch. Clenching his fingers over the green treat once more, tighter than before, he lunged to his feet to follow Seph.
He didn't get far before her pain filled scream echoed out into the night. His golden eyes widened as he saw a wired spear like needle dig into her back as magic zipped back and forth along the metal line, zapping the young halfling who shook and jerked from the shock.
A growl so dark and angry ripped through his throat as he watched their sickening faces fill with satisfaction at how she was being treated. He had to do something!
-------------------------------
She didn't run very far before she felt something bite into her back and the pain coarse through her. It bounced around her head, her limps and even between her cells. The pain was so much, tears ran down her cheeks as she let out a scream that resonated harshly against the walls of her throat. Seph jerked backwards and awkwardly shook as the magic wreaked havoc on her nerves, causing pain no matter how she moved or screamed.
Their laughs and jeers were nonexistent as she felt the magic get stronger, her screams rubbing her throat raw as she voiced her pain.
I want to die! Someone! Make it STOP! STOP! STOP THIS PAIN!!!!
She vaguely heard a feral growl from behind that somehow made it register in her brain through all the misery and pain. Screams joined hers but they were of a surprised and pained kind, yet not on her level. The little thing in her back was pulled from her and she slumped to the ground, the stony ground scraping against her face......

Okay before I begin my first blog entry and rant, for anyone who's going to read this, if you really like Twilight, Vampire Academy, Vampire Knight or any typical vampire romance literature DERIVED from Twilight please find another blog to read because this may contain things that might be offensive.
No seriously, go find another blog if you get offended that easily or are easy to flame other for voicing their opinion about something that you like and not liking their opinion.
Anyways, you know what get's me raging? Okay, you're having an intelligent conversation about the good and bad points about a book that you read for the sake of reading and that you're geuninely interested in the book. In this case, let's assume that it's a vampire horror and romance novel. Don't you just hate it when the other person, whom you thought had a brain to have a coherent conversation with suddenly goes of saying "Oh I wish my boy/grilfriend was like Edward or Alice" or such and such?
Let's say that you said something along the lines of, "I think the plot of this vampire novel is interesting, but the characters and the universe needs a bit more development." Then the other person, whom has read or is in the process of reading Twilight, when hearing the keyword says, "Oh Edward is sooo cool~"; "Man, Jacob is one big piece of man-candy~"; "-sighs- Yuki is sooo cute!" or "Man I'd like a piece of Blood Rayne's -censored-!" Then they go off in another conversation altogether talking about how so and so is so attractive annd etcetera?
These people need to grow up and shut up, please! I am sick, tired, frustrated and annoyed of the people warping good conversations and topics into a something perverted, wrong and beyond all means just plain stupid! I swear girls and guys who do this need to get a life! There's a fine line between admiring and obsessing, people! There are a few reasons why I retain this opinion and here are my reasons:
1. They are fictional characters! They do not exist and the writers did not write them for the sake of pleasing your sick fantasies of bedding a character! Even if it was as badly written as Twilight, I probably bet you that Ms Meyers didn't create Edward for the sake of satisfying your pleasures nor did Terminal Reality when they created Blood Rayne.
2. Even if they were real, and heaven forbid if they were real, they are for heaven's sake VAMPIRES! They are animated dead bodies that, by the laws of Natural Selection and Evolution, born and raised to feast upon the life force of human beings, no matter what they say! Now, some may say, "No they'll never feed upon me. I'm their significant other! Besides he/she/it is vegetarian. He/She/It only feeds on animal blood." And what your point may I ask? Seriously, there is no difference between animal and human blood. Believe or not we come from animals and are part of the animal kingdom as homo sapiens, a relative to the primeapes and chimpanzees. To vampires and creatures alike we are all a food source for them. Besides what stops them from feeding on their own love? Their love for you? Okay to an extent I'd like to believe it but let's face it, vampires, like humans are complex creatures who run on a number of emotional as well as instinctive behaviour as well as the baser needs and wants. Even if they did love, if they were forced to they will eat you, not now but eventually when food runs low. It's a dog eat dog world and only the fit can run in this world. If vampires were real then they would be on top of the food chain and eventually bring upon their own downfall.
3. Continuing my point in two about them being animated dead bodies, they are dead. Unless there is an established reason why in the universe vampires can sexually reproduce then fine this point is refuted and doesn't apply. But otherwise, this is nercophilia. I think and hope I do not need to elaborate on that since I think most can tell where this point is going. Anyways, I believe the only reason why vampires are portayed the way they are is because of the archaic idea of the dangers of infidelity as well as the temptation of promiscuity and etcetera. They are there as physical emobidments of the baser needs and wants of humanity.
And I shall stop there as the list can go on but those are mainly my main reasons why vampires as romantic and sexual interests are just a load of bulldust. Write about it all you want that's fine you're free to express this but please don't voice it out for others to hear. It just shows that you're brain is your sexual organs and hormones and you think with that rather then with your brain.
And another thing, stereotypical vampires! I swear, ever since the rise of Twilight there has been a influx of derivitive version of said novels and a rise of stereotypical vampires have appeared especially with the female vampires which has brought on alot of abuse. (To me it is abuse, I may be exaggerating here) Now, I am a feminist, I believe that girls and females in general shouldn't use their sexual appeal in order to get something they want. Sure it is valued in soceity but we are living beings with emotions, thoughts and intelligence. This applies to the female vampires. Why must they always be blonde or brunette (the good ones anyway) whilst the evil ones are black haired? Okay I know black is the colour of evil but that is seriously getting overused. Black doesn't always allude to evil, it could allude to professionalism, maturity, mourning, goth and etcetera. Why can't some of them be Asian or African American without turning into another culture's version of it? Also why are they always baring their fangs for no reason other then show? Last time I checked, it was to show who was powerful between to alpha males or females or otherwise a defensive mechanism to tell their predator to back off. Things like this are just stupid, shows that these so called 'vampiresses' are just try-hards and should die in the most pathetic way possible that vampires do die in.
Another, the victims! For heaven's sake why are they always once again predominantly females? Is it because we get more emotional right? Is that it? Or is society's opinion so low about females that they portay them a desperate women needing attention from a being of darkness? Is that it? We just sex objects that get climaxes every two seconds? For once I would like to see a victim who is headstrong and practically rejects the vampire's attention, affections and goes pining for a human male. Or at least a psychotic female personality who is a mad scientist and is a vampire hater and is trying to develop a serum to turn the turned vampire humans back to their originals selves and kill vampires.
Well that's my rant for today. Seriously, I'm sick and tired of having to hear explicit, blatant or implied sick fantasies about fictional vampiric characters. Or reading cliche vampire novels where the human female lead is always pining for the male vampire who probably an emo socially-constipated angst ridden gary-stus. As well as the portayal of females (both vampire and human) in said vampire novels. For once I would like to have a conversation with a female about novels without them going goo-goo on me about a particular hot vampire or with a male who goes boing at the mention of vampire. Or read a book, written by a female author, that has a awesome plot with awesome characters. So far majority is mainly male, with Ann Rice being in my good books.
Now that rant's over, for those who have survive my servere and bitter criticism of the vampire romance genre, if you have any female novelists who has am awesome plot on vampires (up to the calibre of Ann Rice please) please give me the name of the author and book in my comment box.
Thanks again for your time in reading my rant.
