I'll be taking my Architecture licensure examination on June this year. I've prepared so much for this exam - it took two whole years for me to gather the diversified experience needed and required to take this examination - hopefully, I'll be able to bag this on my first try.
Not many have been lucky enough to be granted the title of Architect - yes, luck is the word. Our practice has a broad range of subjects that we need to learn, and two years of practice just isn't enough. I consider my attempt to be too early - I have classmates in my review class who are probably in their late 20's - and have had around 4 years of experience I assume. There are a lot of young examinees too - those that graduated in my batch last 2006. Required hours of diversified experience is 3000+ hours - about 2 whole years after graduation from college.
Diversified Experience
Architecture here requires us to cover a broad range of practice, that is:

Architectural planning and design - including drafting/drawing of designs, structural concetualization, and the like.
Preparation of contract documents - this includes the papers needed for sealing the deal with clients, the general conditions, bill of materials, cost estimates, among others.
Field work
Pre-design services - project promotion, feasibility studies.
Allied fields - electrical layouting, mechanical, utility systems, acoustics, lighting - among MANY others.
Ancillary services such as interior space planning, restoration.
All these, are given an amount of hours that we need to complete before we are allowed to take up the examination.
This, coupled with, again, a broad range of subjects that will be tackled for the exams - is overkill.
Here's to hoping that I can miraculously hit the top notchers' list on the exam.:illgetu:
