I just wondering if you all could tell me how the NPCs were run. :oops: I've always wondered that in sites like these.

I know they're characters made up for the manga of the site, but my questions are these:
Is there someone dedicated to posting on the NPC's account and maintaining the character of him or her?
Do only one to three people alternate posting on the various NPC accounts? Or maybe only Insomniac does it since he runs the site?
Do these NPCs ever make guest appearances in random threads?

I know, I know, it's not a bug, I'm not lost, and it's not hindering my enjoyment of the site not to know... but I really want to?

For those who don't want to know, and want to keep the magic behind manga-driven avatar sites secret, perhaps whoever posts the answer can put "spoiler" before they post the answer... :sweat:

From what I recall, the staff volunteer to play the NPCs during the events depending on availability. The NPCs are just accounts that the staff sign on to during events to interact with users.

I highly doubt Insomniac plays the NPCs, as they've been around longer than he has. XD

Pretty sure they're staff members signing into the accounts to maintain the character.

Generally, there is a particular staff member who is 'assigned'/volunteers to play a specific NPC every time that NPC is played. Mr. Mayor is generally played by the same staff member every time, though there are are a few back-up players if the main player is not available.

Generally, we do not 'rotate' an NPC's player during an event as it can get confusing. Imagine, for example, if one player greeted a user for the first time and had a little chat and then hours later a second player was logged on and ran across the same user... and they didn't 'remember' their conversation that was only a few hours before!

Insomniac does not play an NPC. :)

NPCs sometimes run around at non-event times, but it's rare and usually only briefly. They have been known to post mainly in Community Discussions and Menewsha Nations during non-event times.

Nalin Sun, for example, was asked before the Festival of Winter Nights ended if he'd set up a post-event Team Evergreen thread in Menewsha Nations. He did as requested and tries to drop by every few days for a few posts to hang out.
Yumeh has been known to wander around the forums causing trouble... before simply wandering back out, as suits him.
Cessy (Cecilia) has dropped by to chat from time to time... Sometimes getting lost.
A few NPCs have been known to drop by the Fresh Meat forum to greet a few people, but that's usually during events or mini-games.

The staff is the equivalent of a professional stand-in for events he can't be bothered to handle himself. ;3
