Event extention?

Will there be an extension to make up for the server crash late night?
I was hoping to spent most of last night getting feathers, but I couldn't because Mene broked. ^^;;
I really hope there's some form of compensation, at least?
._.;;;

Bartuc 02-23-2009 12:51 AM

There will not be an extension due to Inso being out of town right now. The event itself was coded to end at 6pm on the 22nd. Without Inso here the code could not be changed. If there will be any compensation it will be up to him. However, this even ran for two full weekends. One of which fell on a long weekend for most people.

tentenpuff 02-23-2009 01:19 AM

Ohh, okay.
xD;
-forgot about that-

Thank you, please lock.

juniper_silver 02-23-2009 01:20 AM

I really hope there is some sort of time compensation. It's partly my fault because I was out of town today longer than I thought I would be, but I couldn't get the last event item last night or this morning because of the server crash.

The part that's definitely my fault is waiting to trade in my huge amount of extra feathers though. I seem to always wait till last minute and manage to miss the cut off.

jellysundae 02-23-2009 01:24 AM

How can there be though? The event is over, Inso is the other end of the country from his work PC, what kind of time compensation would be possible? For the event to suddenly start up again, half way through tomorrow afternoon, for 12 hours?

That would be a horribly sloppy and unprofessional thing to do, the only option would have been to extend the event today, and we had no means to do that because it shuts down automatically.

tentenpuff 02-23-2009 01:29 AM

Ah yes, I understand that now. ^^;
I'm just a little upset because I forgot to trade in my feathers.
xD;;
-saved them all to trade them in at once-

Of course, that's a fault on my part and was just sort of hoping. >>;

juniper_silver 02-23-2009 01:36 AM

Yeah, I understand why it's not reasonable to ask for an extension too. I just hope that there's compensation, it doesn't mean that I expect it. I'm sure I'll be able to find the last event item in the exchange after it's accumulated some value and it's not like I need all the extras.

Bartuc 02-23-2009 01:44 AM

What kind of compensation are you guys looking for?

juniper_silver 02-23-2009 01:52 AM

Well I was hoping for an extension, but I understand why that's not reasonable to ask for. I can't really think of any other compensation that would be fair to all users.

And someone was nice enough to donate an extra pair of slippers they had, so I'm not too worried about it at all anymore. That's the only thing I was worried about not being able to find. I don't really need the extra items and it's pretty much my fault I missed them anyway.

tentenpuff 02-23-2009 02:01 AM

Well... getting feathers converted to gold would be kind of nice, but...
xD;;
In the end, compensation isn't really necessary. :P

jellysundae 02-23-2009 02:02 AM

We haven't converted left-over currency for a long time :)

tentenpuff 02-23-2009 02:10 AM

xD
I've noticed.

Trystan 02-23-2009 03:11 AM

you could always just open up the event shop (for feather items) for an extra day when Iso gets back?

Insane Cricket 02-23-2009 03:13 AM

Though I realize that currency hasn't been converted for a long time (I think the last instance of it being done was the Phoenix Jubilee), it'd be nice if it were converted, just a little bit. Not 10 gold like I believe it was last time, but perhaps 5 gold?

Of course, it'll most likely not happen, still. Just a suggestion.

jellysundae 02-23-2009 03:36 AM

Nu uh. Not converting currency any more.

Trystan, we can't do that with the store because it's linked to the event code. Event ends, store is automatically locked. No-one can access it then, and how would that work anyway? I don't understand what you mean by "for feather items". We wouldn't put event items into the store.

tentenpuff 02-23-2009 03:38 AM

Out of curiosity, why are you (staff in general? whoever decides it, I guess?) so against converting currency? O:

Trystan 02-23-2009 03:39 AM

I mean the feather exchange that went on the side of the forum.

you could put it back up and remove the part of the code that grants feathers .-.?

@Tenten: bad for the economy

jellysundae 02-23-2009 03:44 AM

Well, to be brutally honest, because people are greedy.

But Trystan, the feathers were for event items, not the commons that are in the event store.

Trystan 02-23-2009 03:58 AM

right.

I was talking about event items XD;

not the commons

I used the wrong word xP

Nerelda 02-23-2009 03:06 PM

I think it would be nice to be able to get a chance to turn in what's left of our feathers. I too was unable to do that due to the crash. :(

xuvrette 02-23-2009 05:28 PM

... Seeing the feather count still exist, I thought we should at least be able to exchange the feathers to event item?

(it is annoying, and a tease. DX)

Jennifer 02-23-2009 05:31 PM

I think I saw an Administrator say that that would be removed soon. So it won't be bothering you too much longer.

Easther_Bunni 02-24-2009 12:55 AM

I would really like to be able to trade in my remaining feathers for event rares. I tried all day yesterday but Mene wasn't working. :(

Nemui 02-24-2009 05:43 AM

honestly i think its a little unfair and unprofessional that you
guys aren't at least trying to think of someway to give back to your community
due to the server crash last night.

Yes, no one had control over it, but should your loyal community be punished
because it crashed.

And maybe next time you guys should take into consideration if a server crash happens
someone else besides ONE person should have access to the codes as well. That way something can be done. and its not left as a "Well we cant do anything about it so tough luck for you"

Its not the community's fault the server crashed, so why should everyone automatically get punished for those last few hours that were taken away from them.

this is just my opinion, from reading this thread it doesn't seem like the staff really cares
that the server crashed and caused the community to lose out. It really honestly doesn't seem like you guys are even trying to think of something to do. You would just rather blow it off as, " oh well we don't have access so oh well for you"

sorry but thats just really how it comesoff..

CK 02-24-2009 06:20 AM

I am sorry you feel that way.

Do not forget that staff is part of the community too. We were all affected equally.
