I realised that people could go to my profile and check posts I have made. . .
Is there any way that I could set up no one else except me or staff could check my previous posts?

I don't believe that that's an option yet, and I don't know if it ever will be. 'Cause I'd like to be able to do that too. But all anyone would have to do is hit the 'search' button underneath your posts and they'd be able to see your past posts as well.

I believe Cricket and I have had it out on opposite sides of this conversation once before, actually.

My point, if I recall, was: Why post on a public forum, with public posts, and then get all jittery about who can see your post history?

I just think of post-stalkers. If they happen to find your posts in the forum, that's one thing. But someone being able to just click and read through your last five hundred posts seems a little unnecessary. ^^;;

Yes I agree with cricket :yes:
I'd like people would not be able to track down my post :]

I suppose my thoughts on the matter is that even on Gaia, where you can make your profile private, it's still incredibly easy access their previous post history, so that really wouldn't stop a true "post-stalker" from finding your posts. :sweat: Even if the link was removed from your profile, there are so many other avenues of finding those posts that it makes it sort of a moot point.

So in that sense, I would agree with Kin. Just be sure that whatever you post is something you wouldn't mind other people reading since, like it or not, this is a public forum.

but then what if I was talking about my relationship to some people here and ask their help and then few days later you found out that the person you have relationship issue "stalks" my post and brag about this matter ?

Well that's always a tricky situation. Heck, I've actually been on the receiving end where I got an update on a different site letting me know someone had written a life issues thread complaining about me. XD;

But that doesn't change the fact that this person could have just as easily found your thread whether they went through your profile or not. The search feature won't be disabled just because the link to your post history is no longer visible on your profile.

The problem with the internet is that once the information gets out, it's out there. If you are being post-stalked, then you could probably ask a moderator to move the thread in question to the trash, or you could edit it yourself, but at that point the damage would probably be done. In the future it probably would just be best to be careful about what you post.

Yes, but most people are too lazy to climb over that first brick wall once they hit it, and usually don't bother to go around it, either.

Trust me - if you post it on the internet, sooner or later, someone's going to come along and find it.

If an issue is private, keep it private. Take it to private messages.

This, basically.

If you don't want people to read it, there is no good reason for you to be posting it on a public forum.
