Is there only so much gold you can earn per day?

There is no limit to earning gold here as far as I know.
What there IS a daily limit to is earning gold from games. You can only earn 500 gold a day playing games. Other than that, gold earned from posts or trades in the exchange is unlimited. :)

I see, I wished you could earn gold from voting in arenas or from just lurking.

Unfortunately, that would not be likely to happen anytime soon. You earn more gold in a post depending on the length of the post itself. The maximum of gold earned per post being 20g. How many posts a day and gold you can earn posting is unlimited.
We are a community encouraging users to interact more in the forums, and if you are feeling too lazy to post or activity is slow, that is what the games are for. If we could earn gold by merely lurking or voting, fewer people would post casuing the frequency of posts to decline, causing less forum activity, which is actually not a good thing to happen.
It is not that difficult to post once you start. If you have trouble doing so, I would suggest threads in Menewsha Nation, where there are many hangouts you can just post in, or go into the Charity forums and post in active charities. They would be more than happy to accept you in their conversations if you try a little. :)

Well, I voting I can agree with you on, but lurking and reading other people's post, I think per minute that you are actually reading post a lurking bonus from 2 - 4 gold wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't mind much, actually, if the user was genuinely reading the posts, and I know how it is to take time reading through pages of posts at times, killing posting time.
However, the thing about earning gold by lurking is the potential abuse of the system.
Say you have an auto-refresh bot installed, it automatically refreshes every few minutes, and if earning gold through lurking is possible, you can just go surfing elsewhere while your gold stacks, if you get what I mean. :)

Why what you say is true, then we could make it a minimal amount of gold like .50 - 2 gold at most so that it would not be really worthwhile to bot.

Okay, then. Let's do a little mathematics.
Say... you earn 0.5 gold every 2 minutes. An hour would make earn you 15g. One day gives you 360g. Which is actually quite a bit of gold here in Menewsha. You can get two pieces of clothings or more if you purchase those cheaper accessories.
Say a user sets up the bot while he or she vacations for a week. When they are back, they would have 2520g without them doing much at all, and that could get you a set of monthly CIs with extra gold to spare!
A month would give approximately 10k, which is a LOT.
Do you see the problem that system would cause? =O

Why would Menewsha reward you for adding nothing to the community by lurking?
It makes no sense.
You get gold by contributing. Not by just standing around.

I see, but don't you guys have a system of determining bots like Gaia does, people who set up programs and don't interact say within 30 minutes time are usually sent a warning or banned. If there was a system where it logged the user out after 30 minutes if the same page was being reloaded.

Well for proper communication to take place there has to be a sender and receiver, which means you need to take the time to read the post to be able to formulate and give a literate response rather than some glorified spam reply. Listening or reading is a huge part of participating.

Why give yourself more work and trouble by starting something so troublesome to manage?
Just don't start it at all in the first place.
Besides, earning gold mainly by posting is one of the things that makes Menewsha Menewsha.
Oh, by the way. Double and multi-posting, posting more than once in a row before at least 5 hour has gone by or the thread having fallen off the first page, is not allowed here in Menewsha. I have merged the posts for you, but keep the rule in mind in the future when posting. :)

I have the same number of posts on here as on Gaia, yet on here I don't have a single bump and have been on for two years less.

 This is a little confusing? I wasn't spamming, I was responding, uughhh! This is kind of frustrating-- so I'm not allowed to have two post in a row?

Yes, you were responding. But the rule is in place mainly to keep the threads more organised. Imagine if someone replies in ten separate posts in a row with barely a line of words in each, and then other users do the same. Hunting for a single reply you are looking for, you have to go through the thread page by page, which can be annoying, and it gets more difficult if the thread is active and has many posters in it.
You'll get used to it in time, don't worry. I was a new user like you too once before. =)

So, if there are two users who replied, then I would need to address them each on in the same post. That I can grasp. Well, each site like this has it's little quirks which I'm sure I will get used to in time. I just have to keep telling myself that this isn't Gaia.

I know what you mean.
I almost got a warning for forgetting to multiple quote.
Sorry for kinda just barging into the topic, but it's actually quite interesting.

Please do go on.

Yes, there is a system to determine whether a user is botting. However, it is still a pain in the ass to have go and ban some jackass who decided cheating would be beneficial. Because, at that point you have to find out how much gold they botted. How many people they sent gold to. How much was sent to each person. Now, its a full fledge investigation on everyone linked to his IP and Computer ontop of the ones that received the botted gold.
Botting gold will destroy an economy. I have seen it happen over and over on gaia while I was active there.
For proper communication all it takes is the time to read their posts and respond. There really is no need for lurking gold. It will not amount to anything in comparison to posting and just chatting with people. On top of maxing your gaming gold. I agree reading is a huge part. The system would be abused though. 'cause now you are offering free gold for lurking. We are a community. Why should someone get gold if they aren't participating in it with posting?

Well, if you guys chose not too that's fine. You guys aren't gaia after all and that's a good thing. Because I have vowed to never donate another red cent to that site! There are some good features on gaia I liked such as the fishing game and getting fish items and towns. I wished we had that here but I understand the potential for abuse on that. I would like to see more features included in the future and see this site grow-- but of course not like gaia. Never accept corporate buy-out.

I'm a lurker and I don't think gold should be earn for it. Really I just read the stuff for fun to see what other people think. If I feel compelled to comment such as now then I do. Other than that I just play games in the arcade.
