What is questing?
 

Through my short time here on Menewsha I've noticed that many people's avatars have either clothing, items, pets, or backgrounds that are not available in the shops, I assume this is because they quested for them? If so what is questing and how would I go about it, if not how do they get them and how can I get in on that ^_^

Backgrounds and pets come from old event items or old donation items. You can still buy them, but only in the exchange from other users.

Questing is basically setting a goal for yourself. So if you want a certain item you don't have the gold for, you put yourself on a "quest" to earn it. Basically you are building up for something and trying to keep yourself from spending your funds on other things :)

Erailea is right about questing, in short it's seeing an item you want, and saving up to get it.
