Fonts on Menewsha?
Aside from the 'Calibri' font that I use and the 'Century Gothic' font I have seen a few others utilize, what other fonts can be used on Menewsha?
I saw multiple 'How to use BBC' code guides, but none on the fonts. I'm terribly disappointed. Should I find them all and make one? |
Here's the ones that work for me:

My personal favorites are Palatino Linotype, Garamond, and Verdana (which seems to be the default for me). I also like Century Gothic if I need something fancy but sans serif. Calibri isn't one of the presets, I wonder if it works for me...? Edit: Oh, yours is Calibri! It does work, but it looks like it's non-native to (firefox? windows? whatever determines font rendering) my display and it comes out looking fuzzier than any of the fonts I listed. |
The way it works is that you can pick any font you want, but the only people who will see it are the ones who have that font installed. Everyone else just reverts to default, or something screwy. Installed fonts are determined by the OS.
I have calibri, so I can see the_paper_crane's post perfectly well, but other people who don't have it will have problems. I can pick some obscure font like inkburrow and type all I want but only people with inkburrow will see inkburrow. Everyone else sees something entirely different. |
Ah! I didn't realise that was how it worked, thanks for being a clever clogs, Kin! I've messed around sometimes seeing which fonts that aren't in the fonts dropdown actually work, but I never knew why they worked.

I didn't know how that worked either! Good to know.

I feel special. I can read Kinmotsu's Inkburrow. Yay obscure fonts!
To expand on this a little, here's a list of the most common Windows Fonts used on the web and here's the most common for Macs. It looks like Cambria is only available on Windows Vista or Window 7 machines. For the rest of us living in the stone age on XP, well, these are the fonts we get, making them some of the most common fonts out there. So to build on what Kinmotsu said, best to use a font that is common to most machines and most of those fonts are the ones on our font list. Personally, I'm pretty boring and just go with the default font and color. >_> |
I recently used this topic to find fonts. It was very helpful!
