An interesting tidbit: Mint + Menewsha

This isn't a question, more a bit of information I wanted to share with the admins. :hug:

I use an online financial thingie called Mint.com -- super useful, pretty flexible, and very user-friendly. Anyway, one of the neat things it does is show your spending against the US average.

So... I entered a category for "Menewsha Donations," since I like to keep track of things like this, and was ASTONISHED to see a little bar showing me that the average US spending in this category was $120. (a) Someone else must have this category in their Mint.com and (b) someone else must be donating an awful lot! Yay!

(Or, it was a US average for monthly charitable donations... but I'm pretty sure it isn't, because most of my other custom categories don't show any national averages!)

I report mine in mint! 8D

My fiance manages my mint account for me (since we take turns paying for groceries; we use it mostly to track it vs. eating out), and he was like "WTF is Digital Cybersoft, did someone hack your bank account?!" and I was like, "No, that's Mene, and why the eff would someone hack my account for only $5?" xD

LOL, yeah, it took me forever to sort out all of the PayPal charges. My husband does a lot of stuff over eBay, using one of my credit cards (I'm saving points for a trip to Asia, so it's all cool), and so all of these obscure abbreviations come up, and I have to call him and ask what each charge was, for budget tracking.

I so :heart: Mint.

It does? *blinks* That number sounds wayyyyyy off.

Mint kicks ass :)

*shrugs* Well, that's what I saw. Maybe it *was* for the general category of charitable gifts, then. Though -- the numbers are always averages for a certain month, so maybe in July someone did donate a large lump sum, making the average higher?

Well, July was when Inso made the State of the Industry announcement, Scholar. So that's actually not a bad hypothesis.

I just checked -- it's April. At the sacrifice of some privacy (not that I'm terribly concerned if people know how much I donate...), here's the screenshot:

That's real interesting, scholar~ =O

Hmm, never heard of Mint before though. ^^;; So this is all new to me. xDD;;

Mint is AWESOME. It lets you track your transactions by linking to your bank accounts, loans, credit cards, etc. It automatically categorizes most things, and you can always edit what category something belongs to. You can also set budgets, even rollover budgets, and track goals and stuff. <-- sounds totally like an advertisement.

Er, yeah. I love it.
