User Tagging Settings
 

1. I have noticed that when I have been 'tagged' or 'pinged', I do not get a PM or any sort of notice.

2. In the UserCP, on the menu on the left there is a category for "User Tagging" called "settings".

3. The "Settings" link leads to http://www.menewsha.com/forum/profil...sertag_options which shows up as a blank page.

Has this link not been connected to the database? (usertag_options) seems like it would be a table or column in the DB.

4. Are these two issues (my not receiving pings and the 'blank page') related?

Hmm, This is strange as I get pinged and can ping others. So I'm very unsure as to why things would be different/not working for you.

I'm pretty sure I can be pinged, but I don't know if it's just me personally, though. The only time I was pinged was when jelly pinged everyone online to come to the event thread. So I don't know if it has to just has to be my name or not.

Either way, that settings page is also appearing blank for me.

I know for a fact that I have come across threads by casual surfing and seen with my eyes where people have 'pinged' me yet I have received no PM alerts.

How recently was this? As things did foul up a while agao.

Well I do stand corrected in that the most recent 'ping attempt' failed at the fault of the poster: they had a typographical error in my name (space instead of an underscore).

But a few weeks ago myself along with a few others were 'pinged' by estrella in the champagne supernova charity because during the birthday we had won x gold worth of commons, however I didn't receive the notice, and I am glad I found the post by hand before it got scrolled off into oblivion.

Just for the sake of testing, I'll try pinging you to get a very recent account of it.

Haha, brilliant effort on your part Spring`Tyme Fresh! Alas, no, that did not work. No pop up, no PM, I only found your post because I remembered to come here and keep an eye on this thread until we reach something that resembles a solution.

Maybe because they add a : instead of a ; or forgot to put the @?
Sometimes I forget the @ or put : instead

I was pinged earlier, by name, so it does work for me. But that settings page is still appearing blank.

Pinging no longer works for me now as well. :/ It appears this is becoming another mysterious problem like the trade notification.

I'm sorry that it no longer works for you winterwolfgoddess, but on the other side I am glad I am not the only one. Perhaps somebody can figure out if there is a rhyme or reason to why certain users no longer receive ping notifications (but I do receive trade notifications).

Ah, I myself am getting pings as of late but no trade notifications. Or rather I believe I am still capable of getting pings. I do wonder what the problem is. The initial thought would be a coding error, but that would seem far more likely if this was a mass problem (if everyone wasn't getting them)....granted I know very little about coding myself so yeah... ^.^;

I got a ping today so it still works for me. The other day I didn't get a trade notification though which I thought was weird.

Just in case anyone was wondering, pinging still does not work for me. I occassionaly manually find posts where I have been pinged some time ago and I never got the message. It makes me feel a bit guilty, wondering if the patrons of the thread think that I am ignoring them on purpose...

Was playing around with the settings and... strangely I can't find a button to enable OR disable this feature o.o

I saw the blank page, messed with the url to go to the page before that and there's no link that takes me to that black page or otherwise...

idk if I've ever been pinged before though =/ (cept twice by inso back when it was developed)
