I don't know, this kind of stuff is beyond my knowledge. If I did know, I've forgotten xD

Thank you for the announcement! Hope that helps some users!

jellysundae 03-08-2012 05:17 PM

It's all I can think of to do, I don't have the knowledge to be able to do anything about the cause of it.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 05:35 PM

Yeah, I think the most we can do for now is be vigilant. =\ Follow what the announcement says to close the pop-up, change your password if you feel your account may be in danger, and periodically check your posts to make sure your account hasn't posted anything you yourself haven't posted.

... I encounter another pop up, which do not look like Hummy's printscreen at all. At this thread, a few hours ago, I am aware it is Phishing so I didn't put anything just click the x to close it.

... so is my account still in threat if I don't close the browser through task manager as mention above?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 06:01 PM

Hummy's looks different because of her system and preferences. I'd go ahead and change your password just be safe.
Another way that should be safe to close the pop up is to press Alt+F4.

Basically, you don't want to click anything in the pop-up.

Safely Closing Pop-Up Ads

To really play it safe, you should right-click the pop-up ad in your taskbar and select "Close" from the menu. If you have a pop-up ad which is not listed on your taskbar, you may need to dive into the Task Manager to shut down the application or process behind the pop-up ad. To access Task Manager, you can right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and select Task Manager from the menu.

When I went to Jelly's profile, it popped up. :/ Hope you all can get it fixed soon.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 07:27 PM

Thanks for letting us know!
Fixed it on there. b^^

None of the pop-ups showed up on my laptop, it was just my iPod. And I always clicked cancel on that. Now I'm wondering if there's another way to get out of the pop-up without clicking on it. :(

*grumbles* Dern person(s) who was too bored to do anything else, why try to scam for passwords on here?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 08:12 PM

How far apart were you looking between the two? We've been getting rid of them as quickly as we can. P:
Do you have "Block Pop-ups" enabled on your iPod?
Was it the message asking if you wanted to open in a new browser?

Oh, I got them all last night, probably right as it all started with xiraxhacker.

Here's the screenshot I had took last night. Meant to upload it right after but thought to report it first.

I didn't know you could enable that feature. How do you do so?

Nevermind, I found it. I do have it enabled.

----------

Why wouldn't I change it? o.o What is being done is wrong.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 09:33 PM

Yeah, I can't say for sure why it's still popping up. P:

The only thing I can think of to avoid clicking on anything when it pops up on your iPod is to press the Home button, go to Settings, Safari, and then clear your History and Cookies and Data. That should, at least, get rid of all your current Safari pages.

Liztress 03-08-2012 10:22 PM

Well, it's not popping up for me anymore. And yeah, I cleared everything.

I hate the fact that the jerk thought they were being slick to post my old password like that. And then ask why I changed it. xD

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 10:23 PM

Yeah. Best to just ignore any provoking.

Liztress 03-08-2012 10:42 PM

But Ikuto, I'm too weak to resist the urge to provoke! xD

Yeah, I figured it might be best to not go all "Angry Lizzy" on them.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 10:43 PM

-throws weights at- Time to work out! :insane:

Liztress 03-08-2012 10:48 PM

*flounders under all the weight* Wha?! You basically threw everything but the kitchen- *looks* Nope, you even included the kitchen sink. ;_;

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-08-2012 10:54 PM

It's handy! ;D

Liztress 03-08-2012 10:56 PM

Not when you dislike doing the dishes. xD I'd rather be hit with a fully working dishwasher.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-09-2012 02:03 AM

That can be arranged!

llonka 03-10-2012 02:01 PM

How we report threads that have the pop up without pinging a mod to it? just hit the report button and say "I found a pop up!"?

Mystic 03-10-2012 02:49 PM

Yeah, the pop ups are back. =( I just report the thread to report the pop ups.

Keyori 03-10-2012 04:03 PM

I've been reporting posts that trigger it for me.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-10-2012 08:18 PM

llonka: Yup, that's what the report button is for. If you can't narrow it down to the post, then reporting any post on that page is fine.
