I want to put an image on the side of some text.

Like the picture on the left side of the page with the text writing on the right. Its for a quest thread of mine......and I know there is a way to do it.......I just can't remember how and I wondered if any of you lovely people know how o.0

After some thought, I figured out what you meant. You want to justify your text, I believe. To do that, you'll want to wrap tags around your text. The bbcode guide in the resources sticky at the top of this forum will show you how to do that. After that you just have to place your picture URL and add the needed image tags.

Actually, that bit of code got removed by Inso after some security risks associated with it were found.

Then I'd advise using the text generating function in something like photobucket and post it as a picture alongside the image you wanted to use.

Edit: and on second thought, I justify isn't the right function either. Maybe some combination of left/right/center fuction along with justify and indent would have created something of that effect, but without justify, it still would go across the majority of the post. So unless I'm missing something, and that's possible with the state of my brain today, I think the text generator is the best option.

You can still put and image and text on the same line, but if the text is longer than that line, it will end up under the picture when it moves on the next.

Iku is right, the [imgleft] and [imgright] tags function was removed. I don't think it's possible to create the same effect doing anything with the text- but I'd love to be proved wrong!

Another option is to use a program like Paint or Photoshop to put the text next to the image you want and then save that one image to use in the thread. :)

oh, Iku wasn't talking about justify then?
well, you could still play around with that function then, along with Right/Center/Left and indent.

I've tried to reproduce it several times, but using the [left] and [right] image codes in place of [imgleft] and imgright] would not bring similar desired results because it would always place the text on the lower part of the image (because that coding places the image on the same line as text) as compared to being able to add text alongside the image with the latter codes. KatMagenta's suggestion would be the best for that effect if you really want to do it.

I was able to do it so that while the text was technically on the line above the picture, there was the illusion that they were on the same line. That was only one line of text however.
