For each character that you post, you get a certain amount of gold. It's a very simple system and makes it so that some actual 'meat' has to be provided for people to earn anything.

That's probably why the spam, but nobody knows. Maybe they're just wishing to be annoying.

Yes, that is why people spam.

But it's dealt with as quickly as possible. If you see SPAM, please feel free to use the little "!" button and report the user for SPAMming, as that is against the rules. :)

The purpose of granting more gold for longer posts is to reward those people who are holding conversations and building a community. Those who make very short posts aren't really doing either. :)

And most spams premote scam sites as well, that's what happen on Gaia when spammers invated the site with everything under the sun.
So if you want to stay you mustn't spam no matter what even it is getting gold you have to fallow the rules.

True, and hopefully people will spend more time actually typing out words instead of using chatspeak like "ppl" and "u".

what do mean people who type up short posts aren't helping the menewsha community?!
some people like to have "small talk" and can't be bothered reading a long post
some people just want things to be blunt is all
and here are some people out there that aren't literary thinkers, they just post what they say
coming up with long posts for them is quite difficult so i wouldn't say they aren't helping the menewsha community
cause they are, it's put downs like that make those people quit menewsha
because they feel stupid
and i don't like those sort of comments
you may not be aiming at those individuals
but when they read those comments, they would feel like you are aiming at them
everyone has a right to be here and should have a right to type whatever length of post they want without people saying
"they are not helping the menewsha community"
cause in a real sense....they are doing more help to the community than those who make long posts!!!

I didn't say they didn't help the community. I didn't even say they weren't a part of the community. Please don't misunderstand my words. :)

But I do stand by the idea that if people make a habit of posting six and seven word responses to every thread they visit, they are not truly participating in the Menewsha community. That is not to say they are unwelcome, stupid, or unhelpful. They just aren't contributing much to discussion 9 times out of 10.
