guilds?
 

I don't think it would be practical to have guilds at the moment simply because there are not that many users online at once, but if in the future the population grows I think it might be nice for users to be able to have their own private guilds or private forums. Although there are threads for specific communities, there's really no way for the author of a thread to control who posts there, is there?
I'm interested in it because I'd like to form or participate in some kind of roleplaying guild, but many of the people who roleplay do so in a style which I find boring. If I were to have a say in who I roleplayed with, I feel like it would be much more enjoyable for me personally. Perhaps the Private Roleplays subforum is sufficient for this, but I do think that having an actual guild would better facilitate interaction and the development of numerous plotlines for a given group of people. Furthermore there are many practical applications for guilds, it's not really limited to things like roleplaying.

EDIT: I just discovered Social Groups... I guess I'm a little slow XD
Anyway if people feel that Social Groups are similar to guilds or are a sufficient alternative, you can ignore or delete this thread. I'm kind of embarrassed now. :x

Just so you know as far as the roleplaying goes, you can have private roleplays that are more than just 1x1, and you if you create a roleplay, you only have to accept the people that you want to accept into your roleplay. You don't have to accept everyone who applies, and you can throw people out who you decide afterwards that you don't like if you state that in your rules. *shrugs* I've done a lot of roleplaying and I've always found that to be sufficient.

Well, I don't think we'll ever need guilds. We have the Group things, But we also have The menewshan Nation, Which also kinda takes away the needs for a guild.

Honestly, I'd like to see guilds here. Not just the social groups. Or maybe the social groups could be merged with guilds? Not everyone in a guild has to be online for it to be effective.

I'm curious as to what you consider the difference between Guilds and Social Groups...

I'm sure we'll get guilds one day, but the site is far too small to warrant them at the moment. The forums would die if everyone shut themselves away in guilds.
