Terrible price to play a game
 

We are now one member down, and i wont be suprised if the group disbands because she was our leader and extremely active.... we all might get done for spamming. I am hoping this is a misunderstanding on the staff's side., because Jeryck has asked us to do these task... its not like we were spamming intentionally.

The tasks asks us to ask 10-20 people the same question... and the staff should understand that we need to do this in order to complete the task. I myself have asked one question upto 10 times...

Thats all i have to say.

The first rule in that game is to follow the site's rules and TOS. Posting a question in a topic that has nothing to do with the discussion is spamming, period.

Other people are finding a way to do it without breaking the rules.

Well perhaps this should be stated in the game (Jeryck) as a reminder, because as far as we are aware, it seemed to be ok to do. Why else... would someone ask for 10-20 posts with links. Its impossible. Not everyone is open minded enough to be able to start up a discussion in a thread, and saying this, the threads that most people did them in was Quest and exchange threads, where people welcome chatting... which means there is no single one discussion. Meaning you can walk into the thread and discuss whatever you like in reason. Well i hope the other people who did constant "spamming" also got an infraction. Because i have seen she was not the only one. I wont mention names because its not fair to. I have nothing further to say. I think, our team unless someone takes over leadership is resigning, i for one wont be continuing on principle.

You have hit the nail directly on the head. The people who have NOT gotten infractions are the ones who have asked the questions in topics that were "open" discussions like in quest threads, hangouts or exchange threads. The people who have gotten infractions have done it in places that were inappropriate. The people who are playing the game and staying within the rules are having fun and not getting infractions, and the ones that are spamming have gotten infractions.

I'd like to think there's a difference between having a conversation with someone in their quest thread and tossing in something to the effect of "Oh, by the way! I'm doing a task right now that requires me to ask 10 people what kind of ninja they would be, could you answer it for me? If anyone else could reply I'd really appreciate it." rather than just jumping in every quest thread you see and posting "Quick, everyone here needs to reply to this question! Thanks!"

In this case you have to repeat the question itself, but you're never allowed to copy and paste the same exact message into different threads. What I mean is that you can ask the same question, but the rest of your message should not be identical or else it's considered spam.

This is the same type of situation that occasionally occurs in the Fresh Meat forum. You're welcome to greet as many new users as you want and you'll probably want to give each of them the same kind of general information so they get to know the site. However, if your greeting is identical in each thread or slightly varied, that's considered spam as you're obviously not trying to make your reply relevant to the user, but are just doing it for gold gain. While gold gain may not have been the motivation in this case, it's still classified as spam for the same reason.

However, I understand your concern about the wording in the thread not being explicitly clear. I'll go add a warning in the thread to hopefully clear up some of the confusion.

Ok thanks... i just think this situation could have been avoided. Thanks Ferra, that's much appreciated. I am clearer now to the situation. I see... well i don't know why people would want to say the identical message time again. I mean its not much interaction if your there and gone >,<

I have an infraction. Infact, *goes to look up the date* 04-28-2008 01:27 PM by (mod) I am still around. Leaving for an infraction is kinda silly. You just learn and adapt to operating inside of the Terms of Service.

I know very well that Jeryck made it clear several times in his posts that you need to follow the rules of Menewsha above the game. I could probably find and quote where he reminded people because the issue came up before when people were getting infractions for creating multiple "pirates vs ninja" threads in the General Discussion forums for that poll... remember?

I'm very sorry Nephila did not understand that Menewsha rules/TOS trumped the game tasks and got upset over getting a minor infraction. And same with the other users who have got one because of the game. But it was mentioned in the overall game play rules as well as several times in-thread. :/

In any case, you seem to be satisfied with what people have already said. Did you want to have this topic closed or leave it open?

No sorry i never saw the general discussion one. Well i saw the thread briefly while i looked to see what topics were there.

Umm CK i would like it closed. I think its been answered fully.

I realise i did do this thread on the heat of the moment... and annoyance with what occured. But i guess we should all be able to go about it sensibly.
