Links
With the links that have the whole title saying into the links, I was hoping if you guys are planning to change the links the way they were.
I really do miss the smaller links for Menewsha. |
The way the links are currently set up make us better optimized for search engines. So I think it's unlikely to change back.

You can also always edit a link to display whatever text you like.

Well, it is for giving links to other people. For example this thread's link. If I wanted to give it to someone else but in a shorter link like this: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/main/s...ck/109237.html It will take me back to the forums. Or when a simple change is made, the link directs me back to the forums. |
I think what Inso means is using the insert link tab, as that gives you something like this..
[URL="http://www.menewsha.com/forum/main/site-feedback/109237.html"]http://www.menewsha.com/forum/main/site-feedback/109237.html[/URL] Instead of just straight, copy/paste linking to the thread, as this gives you the means to edit the thread title and make it shorter, like so.. [URL="http://www.menewsha.com/forum/main/site-feedback/109237.html"]My Thread![/URL] See.. :) My Thread! |
Yes, the link directed me to the forums and not to the thread itself.

That's because you cannot cut out the title in the URL or the link will no longer work. Your url is missing "-links", which is why it directs you back to the main forum page.

Hmm, see I copied the one that S_M used as an example in her post. I didn't realise it wasn't the full URL
If I make a link using the actual thread URL and alter the title it works just fine. Blah blah blah |

Yes, it cannot be cut out. Especially if people have long thread titles. Oh well, I guess I have to deal with it. |
use a url shortener like tinyurl or budurl ;) works wonders!

To add on to what comotized had suggested, if you don't want to go to a separate site and use firefox, there is a tinyurl creator addon for firefox to shorten the long urls.
