Cell phone text messages
 

I know gaia offers free text message notations when you get a PM. I'd rather the feature be used to update you when a post has been made on a forum you are following. I know this is most likly a heafty thing to do, and I don't expect it anytime soon. Is it even a possibility yet or are those thoughts way in the future?

texts, even from Gaia, are not free ^^;

they get charged to your service provider.

So I 'could' do this, and it could be free for the larger providers (US Cellular, Verizon, AT&T, etc....) but not all of them. The rest would cost me around 2-5c/each to send, which although I'd LOVE to do, could get quite pricey. Now if people were to pay the cost of sending text messages then I'd be more than happy to make it a reality. In fact, I'd even go as far as allowing people to respond to threads or PM's using their cellphone.

Oh, that could be like a cellphone subscription. But you have to pay for it. Maybe in bundles of x amount of texts? It'd be kind of cool, even though I wouldn't use it.

I could totally get on board with this, but that's easy for me to say since I'm in one of the 'big' companies. :p
