I'm a newbie here so I might make mistakes here. Be nice please. (:
Well, when you're a newbie...you're naked. It would be nice to have at least a few starter items, a simple shirt and a pair of pants with shoes. ^__^ |
This has been suggested many times before, and then shot down many times after. Menewsha is a site that works on a 'you have what you earn, you earn what you get' philosophy. Every users who has something made a small commitment to get those items. In the shops there are cheap and simple things that you can get, from a cheap rag shirt (Which I think is cute and still wear) to various cheap accessorys. We get a lot of people wanting starter items, mainly those from Gaia it has to be said. We're not keen to be honest; we've always said that we like everyone to earn what they get on here, not just be handed stuff as they walk in the door.
If we ever did do anything like starter clothes we'd never just give them to people when they joined, they'd have to do something to earn them. |
There are plenty of cheap clothing for newbies
It's called the basic set play some games or post around and you'll have some clothes in no time |

That's true. Mene has always prided itself on having users, for the most part, who don't discriminate a person solely on their pixels. Of course you'll find the odd user here and there who do factor in a person's imaginary wealth when interacting with them. But thankfully we don't have many here. ;D

Yeah, that again is a hold-over from Gaia, people bring those pre-conceptions with them. But once they've been on here for a while they stop caring about being or looking "rich", as we're not a bunch of elitist jerks here so you just don't get that kind of judgemental behaviour.

Also, theres items that are very cheap that you can earn from one good game of tetris or from a few posts, like rags, and yellow bowtie. Also, you can get CI's if you want items.
