How about making posts in the fresh meat forum not give gold. I'm just throwing this out there. It would probably cut back on the people who post in every thread with mostly copypaste posts and other spam.

That wouldn't be very welcoming for the new users though, would it? Is see where you're coming from about the copy/pasta but not that many people do that anyway to be honest. But preventing new users from gaining anything from posts that they're directed to make would be a bit cruel I think.
Especially when they then start asking how to earn gold and people tell them it's for posting, just not in here...

So, we don't want people to greet newbies? >,>; I am confused with what the problem is.

What I think they mean, Bartuc, is what's being addressed in Jelly's new thread. Don't just cookie-cut your response from one thread to the other. Me, personally, I like giving everyone a new hi based on what they provide me with. Provide me with info about yourself, I'll try to create meaningful conversation. Ask a question, I'll answer.
I think it's just a matter of getting everyone to be social and not robots.
Fresh Meat is just an in-the-door greeting service, and a lovely way for new users to get gold AND get welcomed. I would encourage everyone to chill there and talk.
No cookie-cutter postin', tho'. XP

I don't think that stopping gold in the fresh meat forum is a good idea, I mean gold has allready been disabled in the word games, so if you took it away from the fresh meat forum too it would make it harder to earn for a start since two forums would be disabled plus it would be pretty discouraging to new users who are allready a little wary on the gold system.
Not that many people copy and paste the same replies anyway, not from what I have seen anyway, and if they did (as its spam) the staff will deal with that appropriately.

Yes, but I think a lot of people like myself are afraid to go to the Fresh meat forum because the rules are too strict. I know the rules. I have tried to just say welcome and then a little something more to let them know I actually read their post, but not a lot because I don't want it to be spam. But, I still got a "please read the fresh meat forum rules" at the top of my screen. It was not a warning exactly, but now I am too afraid to go to the fresh meat forums because I don't know what to say that won't get me in trouble.
How can people be social when they are too afraid of getting in trouble? If the forum weren't for gold, then the people who spam won't have any reason too and the people who aren't trying to spam don't have to worry about getting in trouble.
Also, it would be good for the newbies because it might encourage them to go out and explore other forums and topics.

There isn't much that would get you in trouble in Fresh Meat.
We just ask that you don't post the exact same cookie-cutter message every time. The point of welcoming new people is to talk with them and interact. Ask them about themselves, answer any questions they may have, or introduce yourself.
Your post would only be spam if it was completely irrelevant to the topic (like if you created a 20g post about how you just bought a tub of cookie dough) or if you posted the same message over and over again no matter who's thread you were responding too.
And Goldenlici, I don't see a single infraction or warning on your account. It sound like you've been doing everything right, so I wouldn't stress out about it. The banner at the top of the page is just a site-wide announcement that gets shown to everyone. It'll get updated along with some announcements, that's all. :)

I used to spend a fair amount of time in the Fresh Meat, some time ago, but i recieved an lifetime infraction for suposedly copy/pasting. I thought that was a little harsh to say the least. No warning, nothing, just bam, there you go, so i can see why some people, like Goldenlici are weary. There is only a limited number of things you can say to certain posts people make there, and not being a great convosationalist myself, i find myself wondering how to make my post more 'personal' sometimes.
I don't think gold disabling is the answer though. I do think some people post for the quick gold, but i think more warnings should be given to people, not a total removal of gold. As somebody mentioned before, it makes users who're sceptical or adjusting to our way of earning gold, a little bit doubious about the whole system.

Our infraction system has changed since then sun, you can't judge the current situation from something that happened over a year ago.
You received that warning when we first implemented the new system - now days people receive simple reminders and if further persisted is when warnings would be handed out.
