I see a big post I like, 'cause it's like perfect. Awesome. Well said.
I don't want to just say, "I like what you said ther" because that seems pretty... pointless. Yeah it's nice and all, but doesn't help in Site Feedback and shiz, I feel all offtopicky if I don't say something else pertaining to the subject.

For my first time, I had the temptation to click a "Like This" button above a post, only to find none. (I've been hanging out too much on a certain popular, social-networking site.)

Upon stating I wish I had a post to have said button, a certain other user that I shan't namedrop (I learned dat'z bad! xD)... she said she has wished the same thing within the forums, and wondered how much would have to go into having a post rating system or "You Like This" thing.

So I decided, since it's not just me, it may not just be the two of us, so I'd toss it out here. :P

I think I remember that post of yours. hee hee...I agree. Facebook implements an 'I like this' link or button that lets their users essentially give their approval of a topic without adding a pointless post (no offense to anyone its not meant to be mean just stating a fact...) that really does nothing to add to a conversation and just takes up space. Granted its nice to know that you aren't the only one who shares your idea, but is there any way we can integrate something of the same sort without needing to put a poll at the top of a thread?

Sometimes I really feel the urge to reply saying only this:

"Snap snap."

Snapping your fingers is a kindof tradition in my school during meetings. When discussion is going on, and you agree with what is being said but don't want to waste time by repeating it again, you snap your fingers.

So, I kindof wish there was some sort of equivalent. I really like telling people that I agree, but sometimes I don't have any substance to post beyond that :/

So, it doesn't even really have to be a "like" button. Just something along those lines.

I think this would be even more useful in this feedback forum, especially if you could sort by rating (so devs can see what users like the most, and give those things more attention, etc.). Obviously the devs could just go "bah fark you this idea will never work/can't happen (like the "WE WANT MOAR GAMES" threads), but it'd still be a useful tool, neh?

I rather agree with this topic.

In fact, if it had an 'I like this', I would click it.

Perhaps earn 1 or 2 gold from it, to keep people wanting to do it? And also, an 'I don't like this', because gosh knows that I wish they had that on that certain website.

xD
Thanks for not namedropping on da site.
I don't even think we should get gold for it... I just have the urge to do it to support the posters... like if someone takes their time to make a super valid point, I can be all "Wow, that was really good." without having to post that... it just feels spammy to me. D:

Yeah, that's why I'd rather have a rating system instead of "like/don't like"

Like, a scale from 1 to 5 stars (or cats?)

If something like this was implemented, it most likely won't earn a user any gold.

Someone could just go around voting on every single post on the site and farm a ton of gold without really contributing anything.

Hamlet's right, if people earned gold for something like this it would be abused monstrously.

There is the option to rate threads on here, but we turned it off because we don't want people turning spiteful and intentionally giving the threads of people that they don't like a bad rating and so on. We always have to think along the lines of preventative measures with features like that because a small few will use them to cause trouble and upset for others, sadly.

I like what you said there, jellysundae.

EDIT:
Why not a per-post thing like this?
People would know when someone else was being a jerk and just rating down for dumb reasons.
Me, sometimes I even rate a downed guy up one to fix it. :P
just a thought...
